Just bought a VW Golf GT TDI 130. I am 19 years old and insurance premiums are unfair I have tried a number of companys e.g. LV, Coop and swift
for this car they are either declining to offer a quote or it is very high to say the least does anyone know any companys or even how I could reduce this im kind of heartbroken now but I will need to cancel the car if I cant get insured and lose my deposit ( I should have checked it before I bought the car)
Please help lol

when i was your age i priced up insuring even a 1.2 polo, and compared to other cars around similar size the vw was always more expensive.
to insure a 19 year old on a 130bhp golf will cost an arm and a leg if they will even entertain you as you are finding out.
try companies like adrian flux, maybe invest in one copy of max power and ring around all the insurance brokers in the back of that magazine, they will be designed to insure young guys with relatively fast cars.
you are right you should always check your insurance before buying a car when young with no or low no claims. use some of the comparison sites to get a rough idea.
but i doubt you will find insurance for your golf for under £2000. you see folk on here paying around £1200 for small engined cars....work permit granted!0 -

It would have been the sensible thing to do.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
You won't find reasonable insurance in that car at your age. End of story. Best cutting your losses and buying youself something with lower performance. If you really want a golf then look at the 1.4 or 1.6 petrol.0

Try getting some quotes with your parents on your policy. I'm 26 and I still put both my parents down as named drivers, it knocks hundreds of my insurance.0

Get a cheapy cheapy car now for insurance in your own name and build up even more NCB. I was insured in my own name from 17 (albeit 35 years ago) and when I was 23 I had no difficulty insuring a Rover SD1 3.5 and a TR7 at a reasonable cost.0
