I suppose one answer for the user is to join the new group and also stay with the old where possible.0

i am one of the local moderators of both the old (defunct) freecyclebrighton and its new replacement greencyclesussex
all 17k members of the old group where sent an admin detailing what was going to happen and encouraged to join the new group.
That's fine and I've joined the new group. What I wish was clearer is exactly how wide an area the new group will cover. By its name alone it implies it is no longer localised just to Brighton - is it meant to be just for the ex-Brighton Freecycle members, or just anyone who lives in Sussex?!0 -

the old freecycle brighton group actually covered areas from shoreham to newhaven along the coast
and inland as far as villages near to burgess hill.
where another group is already up and running we would suggest to members to join them instead, ie haywards heath, crawley, eastbourne, lewes etc.
under the freecycle rules, they where pushing for members to only be a member of the group where they lived........!
there where also issues with the owner of the brighton group, hence why we had to create a new one rather than just rename it.
if in the future a national network is created, we may (and have the ability now) to rename our current group - although being affiliated to the national wont require this to happensmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

I'm a co-owner of North Cotswold Group, as of yesterday afternoon I recieved a c and d notice telling me to hand my group over to the american Imod (who has no knowledge of my groups area or members) bearing in mind i have a very capable co-owner and co-moderators, they still felt it was neccasary to delist my group from my.freecycle and open a group on my.freecycle instead going against not only our moderators teams wishes, but most importantly against our group members wishes too.
Well our group may not be one of the biggest ones around it should still be treated with respect for it's members, which is why at approx 12am this morning our group left the realms of the freecycle network and has now changed name from north cotswold freecycle to north cotswold group. Whilst this name is only temporary we felt it was the best course of action to safe guard our members from being forced to use a service they hadn't signed up for.

I am the Co-Owner of the Wakefield Freecycle UK Group, we have also left the Freecycle Network and renamed our group to FreeShareWakefieldUK.
With a collective membership of almost 5'500 members we had to move fast to avoid the nasty Nan letter that most other UK Freecycle Groups have been given.
While it was a sad day yesterday, we woke today with our dignity and membership intact.
Freecycle have a lot to answer to in trying to force groups onto the new My Freecycle site, they tried to entice me by building me my new website, giving me the keys to the door and since we left them, they have removed me from my new site on My Freecycle, introduced its own moderators and redirected all trafic to the new address, sadly its missing one HUGE ingrediant, OUR members and our moderation team.
People should see Freecycle for what its become, a commercial enterprise of which the owner is cashing in on what he thought to be his UK pots of gold, Group Owners in the UK are still standing strong, refusing to hand over the ownership rights to groups and in some cases, banning intermediate moderators sent in under the not so powerfull instructions of Deron the Owner of Freecycle.
So in the light of a new day, we say goodbye and good ridence to Deron and his side kick Janice, take your trademark and wear it with pride, we do not need you as much as you needed us, but its too late now, the damage was delt last night in your onslaught of Takeover Policy, which i see failed dismally.

Anyone got any info on the Bristol group?“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I keep hearing about issues, but not what they are.
Freecycle will be regional anyway, can't see folk travelling too many miles even if free.
And is the members list free to copy.?0
