Daily Mail "free" freeview box offer

theduke88
collect 60 tokens until November and pay the postage (doesn't say how much that might be!)
or 10 tokens and £17.99 (again the going rate for a box)
or pay £24.99 without tokens!
what gets me really annoyed is that come 2012 and probably before that there will be companies that will give away freeview boxes for nothing just to publicise the digital switch.
and don't forget that this will be effectively useless to anyone who has an hd ready tv as it will never be able to carry and hd streams.
this is the sort of offer that screams "bad deal run away" yet it is deemed appropriate for a middle class newspaper?
and to top it off the waiting time for delivery of the box is 56 days!
in 56 days i could...............

The Daily Mail is a !!!! newspaper. There's no reason why its special offers should differ in quality from the rest of the paper.0

This offer scares me, Daily Mail readers complain enough about the declining standards of tv when they only have access to five chanels, imagine the amount of letters they will write with 40 plus stations.
In additon there will be loads of letters from them complaining about how often the "BBC" repeats the same episode of Top Gear on Dave each day...
Expect a new chanel to start on free view in around 65 days time specifically devoted to was Princess Diana killed in a conspiracy and was it because of the amount of immigrants in the UK...0 -

I don't really get your rant, OK you think it's a bad offer - so don't use it. I think they charge too much for no-drain Tuna at Tesco so I don't buy it from there.Male.

Is the Daily Mail "a middle class newspaper"?!?!? If so - I'm more shocked at that than anything else!"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0

Of course, it's up there with the The Guardian and The Sun.Male.

The Daily Mail Freeview Box
- Receive up to 40 channels.
- But not anything by the liberal lefty McBroon-propaganda-machine BBC.
- Or anything with Jonathan Ross in it.
- And definitely won't receive anything featuring Russell Brand.
- And not anything by Channel 4 when it's being a bit lefty
- Also crashes if anyone looks a bit foreign
- Uses up more energy than needed to stick it to the sandal-wearing, polar bear-hugging Guardianista.
- Automatically plays back every episode of "Littlejohn: Live and Unleashed" every time someone in the vicinity says "You couldn't make it up". This feature cannot be turned off.
Only £20 plus 500 tokens!Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -

As the OP said, they'll be free soon and you get pick one up just as cheap if not cheaper at ASDA or Argos with out having to buy so many copies of a paper. No drain tuna is an additional perk, you are not getting one here so I don't really get the comparison.2013 wins: Persil Bunny0 -

same for any Freeview box
Set top box:- As of August 2009, there are no Freeview set-top boxes capable of getting Freeview HD on the market.

The mention of no drain was to be precise, it could really apply to anything from anywhere. I don't like the price of it from a certain place so I don't buy it from there, rather than ranting about it.Male.
