Saturday/Sunday 5/6th September - What small things have you done today...?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D:j:D

    • Do any surveys that come
    • Go to friends party this evening - am driving so shouldn't cost anything
    • Clean bathrooms
    • Drop dress things off at the seamstress
    Have a good day!

Aaaaah, Fay - glad starting the thread has made your day:rotfl:
Bit of a lie in for me, must get showered in a mo and get started! Taking eldest to gym club at 11 then at 1 her dad's having her for the night. DD2 is at guide camp - so glad the sun is out today for them - bless her, in a tent;)
Had an email today from my stepmum in the US, saying she's sending £1k to my bank account for books and just to help me when I start Uni in a few weeks....so really happy, I just thought she was sending me £100 as my dad asked me to give them a figure - which I did!

    OK, todays list:
    • check banking
    • daily scratchies
    • washing on the line, another load in as we type:D
    • Big tidy/clean of the house as letting agents coming on Tues for their periodic check
    • look for new contents insurance thro' Quidco
    • ironing
    • meal from something we have in
    • NSD maybe?
That's all I can think of for now. Have a lovely Saturday everyone:p

    Morning all :j

Haven't managed to post this week, as things have been even more chaotic here than usual. DD2 has been back with us for a while since she decided she could not go through with her planned wedding - better before than after I guess .

This week she brought home a younger friend who had also split up with her bf, and whose useless parents 'did not have room for her' - now WHAT is all that about  ?

So, what with DD2 and her animals, and mopping up upset friend who has been sleeping on the floor in DD2's room, nightmare job and OH working all hours, it has not been an easy week!

Anyway, today, DD2 is moving into a new rented house with another friend, taking daft younger friend with her (if she had known when she took the lease, DD2 would have got a bigger house to accommodate her as well, but as it is younger friend will have to sleep on their floor till she gets sorted out as only 2 bedrooms). She is a uni student, and I have suggested she goes to the accommodation people at uni when term time starts, to see if they have anything on offer. She may go back to bf yet though, who knows?

So, OH and I will have the house back to ourselves :D :T

    Today / this weekend (no point being too ambitious) I will;

    Meal plan for week

Do the shopping, don't need much, as doing 'use up' of what I already have in.

Housework (place looks like a bomb has hit it)

See to animals and plants (morning shift done)

    Clean out chooks later

Go to bank to sort out messed up standing order for new regular saving account - park in station car park, for which I have a permit, and walk in to town, rather than pay additional parking fees.

Go back on diet as I have put on over a stone :eek:

Have a good weekend everyone - must get on :hello:

A day without DH underfoot :j oops, sorry, I mean :(

    To Do:
    - put washing on the line (done overnight)
    - help DD super clean her bedroom & a quick hoover elsewhere
    - store cupboard meals planned
    - collect new glasses, donate bag of old ones to charity
    - see 'Coco before Chanel' in afternoon with DD (cheaper than evening showing)
    - finish off planning next week's tasks for work

    Might Do:
    - buy DD's birthday pressie - good value leather jackets in TKMaxx

    Done:
    - Pigsback comps
    - clicks
    - E-bay checked
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Today I have or will

    - Daliy cards
    - Check on line banking
    - Use Gym membership this afternoon
    - Go to Cinema tonight, can't use free vouchers  as they are not showing the film
    - Present cupboard audit, got 5 birthdays and thinking about christmas

    - OH has had a banking charges letter again from the black horse, after he paid a cheque in which has showed in his account but isn't actually there so they have fined him £20 per day! He is going to have word and I think it is time to move banks as they have been nothing but rude and unhelpful.
