Hey pbright, I bet you end up going to Rome or somewhere else.;)
You'll have to let us all know what you finally decided and how it all went.i tHink, therEfore I'vE goT a BLOODY heAdAche0 -
No its around the same and the nearest easyjet airport that flys to Barcelona is Edinburgh which is pretty far compared to "next door" prestwick!!
& you are right...i think carbaret is for older folk too, but an idea is an idea and he listed venues which is good......now, i just wish i could get the same info. for places and nightlife that appealed to us.....any idea
2 20yo in Paris, possibly during the end of the week....looking for busy/fun/trendy nightlife(bars/Clubs...not cabaret/shows)????
& i am very confident it will be Paris or Barcelona...looked into Rome, ryanair fly there cheap but the nightlife seemed didnt seem too good there(am i right??) and the Hilton we could have stayed there looked dull.0 -
Forget Paris and Barcelona .Go to Dusseldorf. 300 pubs/clubs in Alstadt (old town) ,
Designer shopping in "Ko " area and 4 star hotels for £40 per room.
Ryanair fly Preswick to Weeze. Its 11 € EW from airport to City Centre
look at

for more info0 -
Don't stay at the Hilton. It's on Av. Diagonal (close to Camp Nou) and the closest Metro is 10min walk and 15min on the tube to town; however a taxi would be €10. There are loads of hotels close to Plaza Catalunya that you could try, that's in the centre of it all.
There are literally hundreds of restaurants and bars between the top of Rambla Catalunya (where it hits Av. Diagonal) and the Colon moument at the bottom of the more famous Las Ramblas. Take a walk down this 'street' and you won't be disappointed. Stay away from Plaza Real area (off Las Ramblas) as it's dodgy. Find a good website (i don't know any off by heart) and it'll tell you some great bars/restauarants. Also Port Olympic has some great restaurants/bars too.
Sorry I can't be specific. Best thing it to just see what the city has to offer, go with the flow (starting at 10pm) and have fun.
Reus airport is 1hr to the south (by car), probably 1.5-2hrs by bus. It is serviced by Ryanair.
Girona airport is 1hr to the north (by car), probably 1.5-2hrs by bus. It is serviced by Ryanair.
The main airport is 30mins on train (you need to change trains as they are working on the line) and is serviced by BA and EasyJet.something missing0 -
if its any help, I had my Stag 'Do' in Barcalona in May last year then went with new wife to Paris in March this year...
In my eyes, Paris is the place to go for sightseeing etc & Barca is the place to be for the nightlife..
I enjoyed both greatly......both have great memories.....Paris - stood at the top of Eiffel tower at night looking over Paris at night & Barca - stood on the bar @ Baja Bar night club at 4am in handcuffs.
p.s. I got robbed blind for a particular round of drinks in both places so their even on that count.0 -
thanks for the info. Cheesesarnie. If i can get a a good flight price(its ryanair we would travel to) and a good hotel deal(you guys here can help me out with that) then Barca could be an option. If i go to Barca i just save my Hilton vouchers for another time as the hotel is out of the way and expensive. So....anybody know of
1) cheapest time to book ryanair flights to barca
2) cheap but trendy hotels(rooftop pool, bar is a +)
3) Good nightlife areas for the young in Paris(as its still the likely option)
...Ill need to book in a week so times running out0 -
o_t_e wrote:I wouldn't want to put anyone off Barcelona - I've been there a few times - but the pickpocket situation is much worse than any european city I've visited. Best advice I can give is enjoy the Ramblas, but don't take anything of any value there, more generally don't put any bags on the ground ever, and be aware that pickpocket gangs congregate on the Pl de Catalunya.
Just like anywhere, as long as you're careful you'll be fine. my sister lives there and her bf (who has lived there most of his life!) had a bag nicked becuase he stupidly put it under his chair in a cafe!!!
so as long as you are careful there is no problem, certainly no more than any other European city!
if you go to Barca look out for L'Arquer, it's a bar where you can not only drink but play archery and a good laugh!!0 -
I think this gets across the point I was wishing to make, just from a different angle. There are places where you might have the expectation that a bag left at your feet might be relatively safe; sadly Barcelona, or at least parts of it, is not one of those places. Everyone I know who live in Barcelona has had gear nicked in the street, and they are resigned to it as an everyday reality of living in Barcelona.
Having said that Barcelona is an incredibly vibrant place, particularly in terms of nightlife, and I'll be going back myself later this year; if the original poster can time their holiday in with one of the festivals they'll definately have a good time.
ps anyone who goes to Barcelona for more than a weekend should try and get out to Montserrat - it will give a completely different spin on a city break.0 -
I don''t know Paris, but I do know Barcalona, I used to live there . If it is nightlife that you are after Barcelona is THE place, the city is full of top nightclubs and bars, visit some websites about clubing in Barcelona, and you will see what I mean. DO NOT BOTHER WITH LA RAMBLA!! Head for the port area, (near the 2 big tower buildings) there are more clubs and bars than you can shake a stick at. If you are in your 20's, why would you want to go to Disney?? Port Adventura is more for the twenty somethings. Getting from the airport to Plaza Catalonia (the centre of Barca) is as easy and as cheep as can be. Walk out of the revolving doors, look right in front of you, and hop on the blue AeroBus, less than 4 euros one way and about 20 minutesThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

Wow....very convincing. Is it possibile to get quality trendy hotels(4*)for cheap. Is there any wellsuited hotels for 20yo looking to party. As i said, Barcelona is more to fly to however i am becoming sold on it more0
