I'd definitely say Barcelona.....its lively, friendly, warm, and the night life great. We went 18 months ago and had a fantastic time. If anyone is thinking of going ..try the last weekend in Sept (check its on though) as there is normally a festival. We had such a great time...more street entertainers, live bands in different "squares" around the city, human pyramids (It made me giddy just watching one person ontop of someones shoulders but when they got 5-6 high phew), there was steel bands wandering the streets with everyone dancing behind until 3 in the morning, carnival parades with huge paper mache models during the day.

Whereever you decide to go I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I am being swayed again now towards Barcalona even though its looking like double the price(so it needs to be double the fun to justify it :D). As sad as this sounds, i am not even sure exactly what a cabaret is...so i doubt it is what i am looking for, Moulin Rouge....the words are lost to me :D. It is nightlife we are looking for, Clubs, trendy bars.....not very exciting, but we are young and looking for a long/wild night out. I think Barcelona would cater for this better, but with Paris being much cheaper...if Paris has at least a few busy, fun, lively pubs/clubs(maybe theres an area in Paris with all of the places...anyone know or is it scattered??) then we could be sold. I know that sounds really shallow, but Paris and Barcelonas sights are on par, as are the hotels we would be staying at(The Paris Hilton, or the Barcelona Hilton) so its cost and nightlife which are the deciding factors.

    Paris is Cheaper......1
    Barcelona expensive.....0
    Barcelona has great night life......1
    Does Paris have nightlife......1/0???????

Any help here guys, at all????????????????????

I wouldn't want to put anyone off Barcelona - I've been there a few times - but the pickpocket situation is much worse than any european city I've visited. Best advice I can give is enjoy the Ramblas, but don't take anything of any value there, more generally don't put any bags on the ground ever, and be aware that pickpocket gangs congregate on the Pl de Catalunya.

I think the problem is pretty much the same everywhere. For some reason, tourists can be spotted a mile off.

I have to say thought, someone has tried to pickpocket me in Paris & Rome but not in Barcelona. I am very careful these days relying mainly on cards and taking minimal cash.

I'd say Barcelona if you only have a couple of nights.

When I went ;last year to Barcelona - we stayed in Barcelonetta - the beach area - which is great - as you can club until about 5-6am and then flake out on the beach in the afternoon to recover. Heat is just about right in June - get s a lot hotter in July/August!!!!

Loads of nightclubs and the music is great - fantastic DJ's - just head for the centre of town, off the Ramblas - you don't need to do Ramblas as you can waste a lot of money there!!! Wear bags across your body and don't flash cahs opr phoines about and you should be ok. - Just out for the gypsy women with babies - they tend to 'throw' them at you to et you distracted enough to lose you purse!!!

Paris get's a bit stifling when it's hot - no beac h - but they may have the Plage - fake beach by the Seine - might be a bit early for that tho' - I would recommend Paris for couples - so if you and your girlfreind are romatically linked then yes - but if just mates then go for Barcelona - loads of tasty talent as well - lol. French blokes are just too smooth and icky!!!

Again, the push towards Barcelona....this is very hard. Even though we can fly Ryanair it is just so incredibly expensive to fly there in June. We would be flying to Reus and it would likely be the Hilton in Barcelona we would be staying at(i have vouchers) and the hotel is not very nice and according to a post "is out of the way". It is a real shame that i can not use the hilton vouchers for the trendy hilton down by the beach area.....ahh, decisions, decisons.....Barcelona WILL cost more, but is it worth it. Anybody familiar with the Barcelona Hilton and connection times/costs with Reus airport??

Thanks to this post Elisbutt and a recent thread about the great hotel(princess i think it was??) being very cheap yet very great, it is tempting to go for Barcelona, justify the cost because it is so much fun...and use this forum and research to find a cheap(but fun/trendy) hotel for a couple of night in Barcelona.

...Any views, tips on what i should do???

...Also, im still waiting on Paris nightlife views/reccommendations???

...Where to all these euro-trip americans go for nightlife when they come to visit Paris in the summer???

The cabarets are a bit boring for a couple of 20ish girlies in Paris - more for the midlle aged couple or men really

Never found any major exciting night life there
