...and you still need to use the removal tools to lose one AV prog ;)

..and turn off Spybot's tea timer function (found in tools - resident section, may need a re-boot after un-checking the box)

Cant seem to find option for tools?

I'm on Linux so doing it from memory, but you have to enable 'Advanced Mode' from one of the drop down menus along the top.
    File/View/Help etc

You'll also get a warning about meddling but ignore it, and then do as the other poster suggested.(Gunjack)
    Move along, nothing to see.
  • Thanks - had already been around all the menus at top with no joy

Mode (across top file menu bar, straight after File), Advanced, then down left-hand side of the window Tools, Resident, untick tea-timer option ;)
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Thanks again - found it and unticked that option.

Anythng else i should do? You mentioned clearing out old stuff - from the log how do i determine what i can safely remove?

Another thing....use the Spybot S&D Tools-system startup utility to stop a lot of the uneeded things (like the Epson scan & print progs) from running at start-up...do this and re-boot before you re-run HJT and it will help sort the wheat from the chaff :)

Same as my last comment i guess - im in system start up now with a list of maybe 45 things that load at start up - some listed in different colours. How do i determine what i can stop? (presume i do this by just unticking the check box)
  • Sorry - anyone any ideas re above?

sorry gaz, not been back 'till now. Yes, in spybot you just untick the processes. In that window, you also get a description of most things, including whether it's needed or not at startup. On the right side of the window, see the vertical bar with two arrows in it ?? use that to drag across to make the main (left-hand) part of the window smaller and the right-side bigger, and there you'll find the descriptions of the items...if you're still stuck, I'll try and post a screenshot to help ;)
