Trojan.Vundo.B

Tonite Norton has twice picked up this trojan.

After the first pick up - ive run updated scans with Malwarebytes, Superantispyware and Spybot.

Since running all these it has just identified the Trojan again.

According to Symantec it will display ads on your computer (link - http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2005-042810-2611-99 ), not good for privacy.

As to getting rid of the trojan, try a full AV scan with windows in safe mode.

Agreed, never rated Norton very highly and found avast to be very good so far

got a lot of toolbars running there , AOL/MSN/GOOGLE/Norto, remove some of them if not used

you need to go to www.windowsupdate.com and do Express updates as you are not runing IE8 , suspect probably missing some other updates

Thank you all for the help - ivebeen away for a while hence delay.

Well - ive installed Avast and done a full scan - nothing found.

Im not sure how to get rid of old restore points so not done the bleeping computer yet.

Just off to windows update to see whats missing.

Regards clearing out my system - i dont know what the majority of them listed do. If you let me know what i can safely get rid off without losing the use of my system i will do? I dont actually use any toolbars - how do i get rid of them?

Forget about the restore step for now - it is better to have the ability to roll back to an infected system than not at all.

Combofix is your best bet at the moment.
