Sony Ericsson C902 Query
I've just bought a Sony Ericsson C902 which is on Vodafone PAYG although unlocked and I'm using it on Orange PAYG. It's brand new and came from eBay but I was under the impression it was on Orange & unlocked but it's on Vodafone but for the price I simply can't be bothered returning it as the price was good and the Orange sim works... but...
I have the annoying 'Vodafone Live' icon key right side above the hang up button and can't fathom out how to change it to something else, most phones allow you to customise the buttons... anyone got any ideas how to change it!

it needs "debranding" they are part of the vodafone branded software thats preloaded on it
I'd find a shop to do it, can be done for free but not for the fainthearted !!Ex forum ambassador

Debranding... I take it, it's complicated then! Thanks for answering!Tänka positiva tankar och att du alltid kan nå dina drömmar…0

it's reasonably complicated and if it goes wrong you can ruin your phone

I've used these for de-branding, not free, but always worked very well:

I know that now... I have RUINED the phone... screwed up the software now and it reads
"Configuration error please contact your network service operator or service centre" Doh, I am a right silly moo....
Bought the Debranding software on eBay for £2.49, it was easy enough to follow but I think I deleted a folder I shouldn't have in error!
Now I guess my only option is to take it to a phone shop and have the software for the phone re-installed otherwise that's £140 down the pan... :eek:Tänka positiva tankar och att du alltid kan nå dina drömmar…0 -

Hi,
You should have bought form elsewhere, some sellers on eBay will sell you anything and any version.
When i debranded my Samsung E900 which was also Vodafone i bought from:
http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/Unlocking/debrand.htm
It worked with no problems at all.
Also i was able to backup my firmware beforehand.
All i can suggest is if you backed up, reflash it with original firmware or search online for possible original firmware version.

you just need to install the custom pack. it should be pretty easy to do using the A2 uploader program.
you just need to download a2uploader (see 2nd link below)and this custom pack.
unzip the custom pack, and upload the files called Customize.xml & preloaded_config.xml from the custom pack to tpa\preset\custom on the phone.
if you need any help with using a2uploader to upload the files, just follow part 2 here.
after uploading Customize.xml (and the other file), the phone should now switch on and a Please Wait screen should come up. it will take a while to finish (about 2 mins on an old w810i and K810i from past experience) and the phone should be ready to use0 -

its a common fault of noobs (sorry!) not uploading the custom pack and getting that message after reflashing the filesystem, so you aren't alone in doing that
the Customize.xml is the main file you needed to get the phone working and the FM_Videos_HOOK.itm (and all the other HOOK files) are just links to operator internet sites to get you to download paid for videos/pictures/games etc so unless you want them cluttering the file manager folders i'd always leave them out.
edit - the phone should run faster now all the voda crap has gone and generic SE firmware is a lot better than operator branded f/w (with orange and voda being the worst at "butchering" the SE f/w)0
