Buying road (white) diesel
Comments

Not convinced anyone who buys knocked off diesel really cares whether it is white or red. They are hardly going to worry what they put in their car.
I think they would, cos if they put cherry in (stolen or not) they will be in the sh*t if the polive/VOSA stop them, but with stolen white they will be sent on their way.
Most people wouldn't touch cherry with a bargepole as they know the consequences, but I bet a lot would be interest in white diesel at say 90p/lscotsman4th wrote: »TBH I cant see the difference in my buildings insurance between diesel and the heating oil I already store on my property (and have cover for should the tank burst via my insurance).
I had looked at getting a derv tank before, I think there is often a clause about fuel for road vehicles0 -
Do you not need to get a fire department to license you too. When the fuel strikes were on and people stockpiled it- I think you needed it for over 50 litres.
Most garages need to turn over 30,000 litres a month for Shell concessions etc.0 -
But white diesel is worth a lot more than heating oil. You hear of farmers getting their red diesel tanks broken into, 1000l of white would be like a goldmine to the local scumbags
Heating oil systems are all plumbed in, you would be filling up all the time, creating a bit of a fire risk
Also buildings insurance might not cover you to store that much fuel
yeah, we got ours stolen twice and the insurance wouldn't cover it. Even though they were seen driving out the yard with it, the police did nothing about it.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
You really need to ask some of the haulage companies. But I imagine someone like Malcolms or Eddie Stobbart take tankers at a time so it is probably just worth it with big volume discounts. For small losts I can't imagine it is worth it.
Post back if you find out.
Big haulage companies won't store any, they'll use a bunkering system, where they just go down to a garage they have an arrangement with with, fill up, and it'll be put on an account.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

Yeh, fuel cards, even a small user should be able to get one to take the price of fuel from "normal" stations down to, or slightly under, supermarket prices0 -

Yeah, that's what we switched to after the diesel got nicked twice. And we've only got 2 vans!Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
