Buying road (white) diesel

Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost per litre if you were to buy 1100 litres of white diesel direct from a fuel company instead of via the pumps? (talking about companies that sell all fuels, heating oil etc, not shell or bp on the forecourt).
I'd imagine savings would be miniscule, but just trying to find out as yet again been put of the veg oil route.

its a just a few pence per litre saving - the saving being offset by the cost of the tank, pump, etc.0

You really need to ask some of the haulage companies. But I imagine someone like Malcolms or Eddie Stobbart take tankers at a time so it is probably just worth it with big volume discounts. For small losts I can't imagine it is worth it.
Post back if you find out.0 -
A very big haulage company I know says that unless you are buying millions of litres its cheaper to buy it at Tesco or Asda.
Thats why you often see HGVs using the fast fill HGV pumps.0 -
Looks like a c90 could be the order of the day.
I'm still waiting for a quote though.
As far as fire/theft risk goes, no different from having a heating oil tank in the back garden.0 -

But white diesel is worth a lot more than heating oil. You hear of farmers getting their red diesel tanks broken into, 1000l of white would be like a goldmine to the local scumbags
Heating oil systems are all plumbed in, you would be filling up all the time, creating a bit of a fire risk
Also buildings insurance might not cover you to store that much fuel0 -
But you could throw lit matches at diesel all day and never get it to ignite.
TBH I cant see the difference in my buildings insurance between diesel and the heating oil I already store on my property (and have cover for should the tank burst via my insurance).
As far as a theft risk is concerned, would it be any greater than my chances of being a victim of theft just now? (Housebreakers, car thiefs or bike thiefs)0 -
Got a price of 90.35p per litre but then VAT lol. 103.9
On a brighter note, taking more care with my drivings got me an extra 10 MPG so thats the solution.0 -
