Letter from Lloyds/SCM help needed

  • We defaulted on a loan with TSB last year.
despite letters and phone calls different departments didn't communicate and TSB rarely if ever responded to any correspondence we sent.
they even sent us someone else's debt letter for a credit card (ours is the loan) but didn't quite grasp that it was a problem when I highlighted the problem to them.
I sent a letter to the other person with her letter enclosed asking her to complain.

The debt was then passed to WESTCOT who did handle things nicely but unfortunately again due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to keep up payments.

And now the debt has been passed to SCM, we were never avoiding the debt, I sent a copy of our means statement to them and proposed repayments which they have accepted. So hoping it goes smoothly from now on...... although after reading previous posts I'm now a little concerned.

As FTW, this lot are the biggest bunch of inept idiotic cretins on the planet.

None of their departments communicate with each other and you go around in circles. It's no surprise they nearly went bust.

I actually have a recording of a telephone conversation where the operative actually stated "There's no point in writing as things get lost in correspondence, you should always phone us instead" - trouble is, they then STILL don't communicate with each other.....:rotfl:

  • I had a car loan from Lloyds in 2004. The car had persistent faults and after god knows how many times of trying to get it sorted we told Lloyds to take the car back. This wasn't a cheap car at £14,000! Lloyds had a responsibility as well as the garage to help sort the issues and they didn't!

Anyway the car company had also sneakily added the top whack ppi to the loan! By the time Lloyds had sold the car etc. they still wanted £7000 from me! And that's after 3 years of paying £300 a month! I told them to take me to court as I wasn't paying it! They did and I accepted £2000, and it was accepted by the court. Yes I have a ccj but at least I'm not paying £7000! Id be damned if I was going to pay them a penny more than they're owed. Currently trying to claim back the ppi too!
  • Hi, can anyone help me? I am a Hailfax Current account and CC holder. My CC has defaulted and has now closed. I have had to take reduced hours and my wife has been on maternity leave so money isn't what it used to be. Truth be told, I have been paying the more important bills and then running out of money to keep up with payments on my CC. I have just received a demand letter from SCM offering the same kind of 'final demand before legal action' letter and obviously - with a young daughter - I don't want thing things to go too far before I sort it out.
Going by what I've read, I shouldn't be overly concerned about this should I? It's just part of the collections department. I have dealt with debt collectors before but not for a few years. What do I need to do to get them off my back? I want to pay, but only the absolute minimum.

    Help please!

    Thanks,
    Mr C
  • You need to sort out a debt management plan, you can either contact a charity like Stepchange or you can do it yourself. Look on the DMP and mutual support thread and post on there :)

But first you need to check that you are getting all the benefits you are entitled to

    Benefits checker

and then get a new bank account (not Lloyds group) and divert all your income into it

    Bank accounts

as they probably have the right of set-off against your current account, i.e. they can dip into it at any time they like, though they are supposed to warn you in advance. Lloyds and Halifax are effectively the same bank now.

My Lloyds loan is with Lloyds and they said I would receive letters from their scm solicitors and to ignore them.
I hope I don't need to be worried

Jack - it gets confusing to deal with several queries in the same thread. I note you have your own on the go:

If you explain what you are worried about over there I or some others will respond

My debts are with Lloyds, yes ignore the SCM letters. They send them out to try to scare you into paying, I have a pile of them, but they have stopped sending them now. :)
