Letter from Lloyds/SCM help needed

I recieved a letter today from SCM solicitors apparently acting on behalf of Lloyds, regarding my loan I have with them. I now know that SCM Solicitors are actually part of Lloyds TSB. They have stated that if I don't repay 15K within 10 days they may start legal procedings. I have just started a new job but my hours vary from 20-30 per week and I haven't recieved my first wage yet so haven't been able to phone CCCS for a revised repayment/DMP to be set up. So far I have been paying Lloyds £1 per month as this is all I can afford. I may have another job in line which is guaranteed income but for now I just have to go on the 20-30 hours per week.
Is there a letter that I can send of to them, or do I not bother sending a letter at all?
Many thanks

    Hi there

We have had the same as well, also paying the £1 token payments at this time.

They first sent the first one about 3 months ago, to pay up, and we did not hear a thing from them after, although we did receive yet another letter from them in regards of the other loan, to pay up the balance.

Easier said than done I know, but try not to worry, they send these out in batches, but what we did was request they send us the information of what they hold on us by 14 days, which is something like a SAR (Subject Access Request), but this was called a CPR, where this is a free request, if you want to know more please pm me as I will have to dig out the information on this, put it this way, it have helped in a way.;)

    Good luck.

SCM are Lloyds TSB. They bought the name several years ago and the SCM team is based in one of Lloyds offices in Brighton as part of their debt recovery team. I've had similar letters from SCM in the past and never ever received any response to (recorded delivery) letters I sent them and they never instigated legal proceedings. I've continued to make my dmp payments.
As di3004 says try not to worry. Lloyds/SCM are one of my worst creditors to deal with but they are also the most ineffecient!
  • Thank you Di I have printed the letter and will send it off on Monday. They don't worry me as I know it's all scare tactics and they are quite welcome to take me to court if that's what their plan is . I will post again if I do get a reply from them.

    Hi Charlie

Yes your right, they are just scare tactics, we have got used to them now, if it does go to court, the books will be thrown at them, your doing all you can and still making an effort, the judge will see that.;)
Good luck and please keep us posted.

  • I have received this week a letter from SCM Solicitors, and decided to check them out online when i saw this forum!

My history.... i have had an agreement in place with Payplan for the last three years and was paying the debts off successfully.
However Lloyds Bank decided to start adding the interest back on. No communication, no notification!!!! What does one do?

Payplan wrote to Lloyds on my behalf...no reply!!

So i called Lloyds....their friendly customer service guy stated ' there is a new agreement in place and you dont need to worry" ok i said!!

    Now i get this....any advice?

    Thanks

Lloyds departments don't talk to each other. I have had letters from Hove saying they accept lower payments but Hove couldn't have updated the system as credit card statements expected higher amounts, then SCM (Hove address) send me a letter so I wrote back photocopying all the correspondance I had from them and to them, I am still waiting a response from them.

I would write to them saying what has happened and my top tip for dealing with Lloyds is to do it only in writing, they are so incompetant that at least if there incompetance is in writing you can use it against them!

"So i called Lloyds....their friendly customer service guy stated ' there is a new agreement in place and you dont need to worry" ok i said!!!" - New agreement?

And as ex-rayday says, Royds TSB departments don't talk to each other, and this causes all manner of problems. They seem to think that it's the customers responsibility to go chasing up departments, and it could account for why the company is as useless as it is.

I received something like 8 or 9 letters from SCuM, with no follow up action beyond it going back to Royds. And they asked for the full amount before issuing a default notice and before terminating the account. Oops...

I've had around 6 or 7 DCAs pursuing it since, none of them successful in any way, and the last I heard from any was around 18 months ago. Not a peep since then.

I said before on other threads that Royds should really leave banking to those who know what the hell they're doing.

Note to Mr Cameron - next time Royds needs a cash injection to survive, let them drown.
