Do You Make Your Bed Every Morning?

I do know that whenever I change the bed, I treat myself to a long bubble bath, too, with Lush, if I have anything left in my Lush basket. Nothing better (IMHO) than climbing into a cool, fresh bed, all sparkly clean myself.
(Yes, I do shower (most mornings, in fact) between bed washes!)

I read ceridwens post as meaning that she washes her duvet once a year and that the cover which was on there at the time got chucked in wash too! I'm not saying about when I wash my duvet covers etc - as far as Im concerned its often enough.0

I "try" to make our bed everyday and I change our sheets every week due to my puppy sleeping with us ( said hiding my head). I open our windows during the day and Im getting our kiddies to make their beds as well.
I do hoover our mattress about every 6 months but never washed the duvet or hoovered it. I do like sleeping in clean sheets and love the smell of clean sheets.Sarah, who is trying to make small changes :money:0 -

Totally agree. My way suits me, and I'm always interested to see what other people do, not in a "my way is better than yours" kind of way, but just because I'm curious!0 -

Same here, I shower during the week but I like a bath on Sunday night as it is bed change day and I love getting into a new bed after a bath!0 -
In our old style house I can't remember the eiderdowns and hand sewn quilts ever being washed (no washing machine nor launderettes). I think they were aired on the washing line once a year or so. The very heavy wool blankets may have been washed - but I can't remember when. However, the bedrooms were so cold in winter any bugs or mites would have frozen to death.
Eh, when my sister and I were at boarding school in the sixties the blankets on our beds were never washed, ever. Once a term we were made to take them out into the garden where we had to give them all a good shaking and a solid thrashing with carpet-beaters. You should have seen the dust! Like clouds, is was.
In Ceridwen's defence on the duvet-cover-laundering: I have a 100% white cotton duvet-protector on mine. I remove and wash my duvet covers on a regular basis but only put the protector in the washing-machine when I change the duvet as the seasons change. I reckon this comes down to the same thing as a duvet cover over a top sheet and I do not feel any less clean, fresh and dainty than I did before I started reading this thread and you can't make me. So there!0 -
Flatmate has to - his bed's the sofa :rotfl:I sleep on the floor so don't have to
Can't you get some kind of mattress to sleep on? It really must be bad for your back sleeping on the floor long term.
I'm another one who airs my bed for a couple of hours most days and I change it when I think it should be changed.0 -
I air
and I'm lucky enough to be able to make later in the day.
What I also do is fold the duvet in thirds, not half- which is also what I do with throws/extra blankets on the end of a made bed. That way, if we haven't made the bed(or through the night in the case of extra covers) the top edge is towards the top of the bed and it isn't far to reach from lying down. Its a little thing, but it really makes a difference to me.
I wash bedding twice a week. The reason for this is, well, Pn points out that coupes make more use of bedding than singles do. Also, though DH is home only three nights a week my cats are alwys in our bed and one of my dogs often joins us. That means as many as five of us regularly on the bed! I love fresh linen: I'm pretty sure I could drag out linen changes further, but its something I am able to make time for and is a small luxury.
During the day I have a light cotton quilt (washable)to throw over the aired bed to protect it from animals.
Also, in the days when I worked DH and I always chnged in to PJs/houseclothes or dressed propery for supper, so I mde the bed quickly then.0 -

I wouldn't be too sure about that! :rotfl:fitzroy0
