wages by bank and no account

greetings fellow misers;)

I work for a large company that insists I must have wages paid into a bank account which is fair enough BUT I dont have an account and cant as far as I know get one due to lack of ID(no passport or current driving license)

Now I'm currently having my wages paid into a family members bank account but really need to get something for myself.

Any sudgestions?
I'm thinking about one of those "top up debit" cards but dont think I'll get any intrest.

Cheers people

Are you on the electoral roll? If so some banks may be able to verify your identity electronically. My friend and I opened a Halifax Easycash account and neither of us were asked for ID. It was all done online.
  • If you can produce this then Yorkshire BS will give you an account,I get my wages into a cash transactor card.

Original and current notice of tax coding from HM Revenue & Customs
    Proof of address:
    • An original utility bill, e.g. gas, electricity, telephone (not mobile phone) less than 3 months old
    • An original and current council tax bil
I have a deep burning indifference
  • cheers for the sudgestions so far much apreachiated but the only thing I get billed for is a mobile phone and I'm not currently on the electoral role
    Any more?

A letter from your employer giving your address and confirming that you are employed with them, this has usually done the trick where i work.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

With RBS/Natwest it's virtually impossible NOT to be able to get the the things required to be honest. If you're on benefits those letters can be produced, if working (legally) tax will be being paid and a notification of tax coding can be requested from your tax office.

That covers ID. If address verification is needed you can request that the local council add you to the voters roll and they can confirm this in writing.

Have you actually been into a bank to discuss what ID you could provide? The manager normally has some sort of discretion.

And register on the electoral roll. http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/

My son opened one a couple of weeks ago with RBS. All he had was his birth certificate and a letter from the college. He's 16 and doesn't pay any bills either - that letter and his birth certificate was all he had. He even managed to open an ISA account as well. Goodness knows what he's going to put in that one!
  • Under 18's dont have to produce the same type of ID as adults. Therefore birth certificate, NHS Medical Card, Proof of Age Card/Young Persons Pass Card and letter from school/college etc will suffice.

Always makes me laugh when adults tell you they have brought some ID and say birth certificate. I refer them to the words printed at the bottom of the birth certificate - This is not proof of identity!!

apply for a prov driving liscense.
  • What ID does one need to apply for a passport? If it's good enough for them surely it is good enough for a bank?
