Holiday nightmare!

I recently was on holiday in Turkey where I suffered a major accident. Luckily I was covered by my holiday insurance. However, the surprise came when I got home to find that my partners mobile bill was over £900 and mine was over £1500! We were there for nearly 4 weeks, and my insurance is capped at claiming £50/day to a maximum of £400. Does anyone know if there is any way we can reduce our bills. I have already spoken to the providers 02 and Orange, they have said they can spread the costs over a period to help limit the impact of the bills. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
