Lidl not giving me refund

Hi has anyone every tried taking faulty goods worth over £10 back to lidl. I did this yesterday and was told by the manager that he would take the goods back but as the value of the item was over £10 he would not be able to refund me and that the goods would be sent to head office to be checked out. Then i will get a cheque through the post. Is this correct. If not what if anything can i do.

How long have you had the goods? What are they?

If it was a kettle and you have only had a few weeks I would ask them for a replacement while they check it out as you need a kettle.

As it stands now they have your money and the goods. You have nothing. Then again they do need to verify that the goods are not working. Is it reasonable for them to send them away to confirm this. i.e. could they easily check in store that it's faulty. If its a garment and it has a hole in then they don't need to send away. I would ring your Trading Standards dept for advice (they are open today).

A lot will depend on what the item is and how long you have had it.

    Good luck

The goods were 2 personal mp3 players bought the week before xmas. I actually bought 4 priced at £24.99 each. 2 of them will not recharge. I have checked the batteries out with a charger at home and the charged up no problem. But when i try to charge them up using the mp3 players internal charger they do not charge up. The other 2 are fine.Any ideas??

    Hiya David,

i was under the impression that when you purchased a product it was actually down to the company you purchased it from to refund the money if the product was at fault, i may be incorrect and as i dont want to give you the wrong info heres a link to the gov sale of goods act, hope it helps, good luck

yes but should i have too thats the question because i have seen replacements at virtually the same price elsewhere. I dont see why i should be denied the chance to spend my money on a similar item in the sales at another shop.
  • not being funny bro but i am sure they are in the there rights to do or they would not do it its not like its a market trader i can see your point i just dont buy nuffin from them saves the hassle
    goood luck

Has anyone ever tried returning a food item below £10 at lidl. My wife tried this today and the manager told her that they have a no refund policy on food and that she was being pathetic and stupid if she expected a refund. She asked where this policy was displayed in store but the manager just walked off into the store room and would not come out. Where do you think I stand? anyone?

    Pathetic and Stupid :o >:(

And if there's something wrong with the food then she's entitled to a refund.

Even if there was a sign saying 'not above £10' that doesn't make it legal. Print off the consumer rights from Rush's link and take it with you :)
