Over the phone they said expected delivery would be mid september/ to late septmber.
When we phone them the line just says this number is temporaralily out of order or off the hook.

Well, it isn't actually mid/late september yet AND their telephone may well be genuinely out of order (I've just phoned it and got that message too).

I admit the website looks well dodgy, but you might be getting into a flap over a telecom problem their end, or the fact they're an amateur outfit who've gone on holiday without anyone managing the phones. For £1800 quid though, I'd be taking a day out in Lancashire so I could sleep better.

(The website is worth a visit for anyone who wants to see an initially smart looking website, but with a few tell-tale dodgy signs; like lack of contact address, website registered to a company-formation business, lack of email address etc.) http://www.autodealerdirect.co.uk/
  • I too was about to ask the OP if this http://www.autodealerdirect.co.uk/index.asp was their website. I was also concerned about the lack of contact details. It's beginning to show all the signs of a con.

My bet is the details of a dormant company ie the name have been used and the outfit aren't even at that address.

OP where did you post your cheque to? Hopefully it wasn't a PO Box address.

  • I have just looked at Compainies House and unless I'm wrong they are listed as a none trading company. Up until May this year they were SPOTLAND COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED, which doesn't sound right either.

OP at some stage I would suggest a visit to your local police station once you have answered all the outstanding points in this thread.

    Good point.

OP, have you ever contacted them on that number?

Sun Living Travel was the last listing at that address, and that was some years ago.

The sole director of the company uses a Manchester address. I would not be convinced that he lives at either of the addresses, however. And he may use more than one date of birth.

And the phone number quoted has been used, as recently as November 2008 by the British Heart Foundation.

I would say it's not looking good.

Could be worth enquiring of Darwen or Blackburn police? They may know something. Maybe they've had other calls?

ETA: I'll try and have a drive past this evening. I'm fairly sure it's just a normal terraced house on the main road.
  • We got a prepaid envelope, we found there details off a site called contract hire and leasing.com
  • OP is it their website the one we have highlighted?
Any other company on the hire agreement?
    Can you remember the address?

Please answer these so we can help.

Yes you could be inline for identity theft, maybe even leased more cars.
    Answer the other questions please.

The site is registered to 45 Blackburn Road, Darwen.

Now, all we need to know is if the OP can confirm that that is the address, or provide any others she may have.
