Does this sound dodgy ( estate agents)

Something not quite right here. The vendors are not contactable, until you give them until the end of today to respond, when the E.A says a higher offer has been received all in the space of a few hours, and the E.A stll claims they cannot contact the vendor. All this on a house that has been on sale for 1 year.0

Sounds like time to move on, you don't seem keen on upping over the (possible) £3000.
Ask the EA what else they have or what they have been valuing for new sellers and if you can look aroudn those. If they are playing silly !!!!!!s it might hit home you are not to be messed with.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -

its not about the money we could go the extra but its the principle, and the way the estate agents have behaved.
We may offer more, the people who have offered more will probably get it for the same price or less than we have offered after the survey.
I think we will just wait and see we have got a couple more we are interested in, so maybe in the meantime we might like one of them.0 -
I think it sounds dodgy myself our EA has both home and mobile numbers, so we are contactable nearly all the time- I can't understand why both buyers and sellers alike mess people about so much!
I've been tempted to keep our house on the market until exchange - but so as not to annoy the buyers have taken it straight off as soon as offers were accepted and got let down both times - it seems that the genuine buyers and sellers can't find each other when they need to!0 -

The thing is the house has been on the market 1 year and as sold three time s before, but for one reason or another its fell through, due to people not being able to get the mortgage.
Also, this makes me wonder if there's something 'wrong' with the house. At what stage did it fall through with the previous buyers? Was it after survey? Did something come up in the survey? Was it overpriced?
Maybe moving on is best, good luck. Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation? :cool:0 -

My sol has suggested that whilst my offer cannot proceed without a full drainage survey, another person may only get a simple valuation report and not be aware of the issue. As a higher offer was already in from someone in a chain, it may now become more desirable depending on the survey they have done. I couldn't con someone like that, once aware of a problem, but many people have no issue with it.0 -

I know 2 of them had the surveys done and then dropped out, the one tried to gazunder them, and the other said she couldnt get the mortgage after the survey.
The house is not overpriced, but it does need a lot of work done on it, maybe when the surveys have been done they have tried to chip off too much and the sellers have told them to do one.
Im glad really because when the estate agent said they would accept the offer, when i asked her, i was going to pay the arrangement fee for the mortgage, im now glad we never.
If they did accept my offer and then judased us i would be gutted, but like i said, it happened to us before, but luckily it hadnt cost us any money.
Thats why i wont proceed and pay out any money until they say yes to the offer and take the house of the market, i know it doesnt mean anything and some sellers have no morals, but i know for a fact that if i accepted a offer on something from someone and they had paid out for a survey i would never judas them.0 -
Another dodgy thing is why would the estate agent tell me exactly what another offer was?0

Cos that what he wants it to sell above?0

yeah maybe you are right, i did say to the estate agent that i wanted to remove my offer, as it seems to me they was using it as a yardstick, but she said in no circumstances do they let other potential buyers know what other people have offered, and then in the next breath she is phoning me up and saying someone as offered 3000 pound more.
Ive lost faith in estate agents and ive only been looking for a month or so, lucky we dont have to sell through one, i could imagine the waffle they could chat to try and get your business.0
