not understanding concept of 'auction'

I'd not be rude; I'd be more quizzical....'I don't understand, how can it be too expensive when you put the maximum bid in?'0

Had a good one when selling some Phone accessories (had a replacement phone via my insurance and they also sent the headphones, extra cover etc)
So put them on Ebay starting at 99p. It went up to £11.76 and got a message from someone that hadn't won stating the person that had won is a scammer. No way is the item worth nearly £12 etc etc they won't pay. I will offer you £6 now blah blah. Shame the "scammer" had already payed up.0 -
I once sold a CD and has this problem. The auction started at a couple of quid, but eventually sold for more than the RRP. I got a snotty email from the buyer when they eventually realised they'd paid more than Amazon were selling it for. She accused me of trying to rip her off as though it was me who had forced her to place a bid for that amount!
LOL who forced her to bid so high?0 -
I sold a dvd a few weeks ago, the buyer emailed and asked for a refund because he didn't like the movie, he even tried to get his money back via paypal.:A

I have had several buyers recently who haven't even read further than the title and didn't even know how to get to the description. New buyers
I thought I had settings sorted to weed out the few who are too stupid for ebay

Just like physical auctions, ebay has a selection of nutters who get auction fever.
I have seen people bid against themselves in an auction house, to teh point of stupidty.
I used to sell Crystal Skulls on ebay which I bought for £7.50 ex vat, on average they sold for £22-23 each, but at least once a month someone would buy at £100 +, but at least no one complained, were these peoples bidding fingers possessed or something?
Even in my one moment of ebay drunken madness where I successfully bidded and won the auction of a 1969 Mercedes at 3am, Was quite surprised to exactly how expensive my night out was, however I still stuck to the contract and rustled up the 4K to pay the guy.0 -

I was at a liquidation auction yesterday, and saw somebody pay £140 + vat + Auctione fees for a fake Sony video camera. They were so convinced it was genuine that they took the option on another 2, so that the person bidding against him would not take them.
Google for Sony MX7000 and you'll see how high his leg was lifted.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
