SORRY! In my hurry I looked up the wrong local newspaper.
E7even is in MAIDSTONE. And the local papers are
Downs Mail 01622 734735.
Courier newspapers Tel: 01892 681000
Email: news.editor@courier.co.uk
(They are based in Kent but you may have to ask them to pass it on to the specific paper covering Maidstone
Kent Messenger tel 01622 717880
Apologies again.
I'm trying to do all this and work ...
E7even is based in Maidstone in Kent and are refusing to see people at their office "except by appointment".
They have left customers without broadband service, are trying to force customers to use premium rate telephone numbers making them hold on for long periods of time in contravention of ICSTIS regulations, including those who have paid for an 0800 helpline. They are not refunding money and trading standards and OFCOM appear to be relying on credit card companies to refund customers since they are doing nothing to ensure the customer is not cheated of his or her money.
E7even send out dud MAC migration codes so customers either have to pay for dial up or have to get the company they want to go to tell BT to clear the markers off the line and pay a full connection fee - penalized financially (this is not covered by the credit card companies) because of a rogue or incompetent company and the inaction of OFCOM and trading standards/the OFT to protect the citizen against this.
The Managing Director is one Charlotte Mitchell who lives in Shadoxhurst in Kent. The head of customer services is Mike Todd and there may possibly be a Michael East also associated.

Maidenhead is in Berkshire, Maidstone is in Kent
Edit - In fact E7even is based in Maidstone:
https://www.e7broadband.com/cop.html
E7even UK Limited
Suite C9
The Powerhub Business Centre
St Peters Street
Maidstone
Kent
ME16 0ST
So I don't really think the Maidenhead Advertiser would be the best paper to contact.0 -
Thanks Mr_Fishbulb. My mistake. I'm trying to do too many things at once. Good thing you alerted me. Thanks again!
I am of course talking about Maidstone in Kent. A true (not an E7even type) apology for anyone who has rung the wrong number.

i dont see what good the local press would do for the case, try the nationals.0
-
Hi Normanmark,
The local papers can doorstep easily and are more likely to do a front page splash. Consumer issues about broadband are not always "sexy" stories for the nationals, although admittedly this is something of national importance - the inability of OFCOM and trading standards to protect citizens and the neglect of cover regarding migration codes and a national might like to pursue this as it does affect anyone on broadband but it's not front page stuff. But a national may well pick up a front page story in a local newspaper as well. But I certainly wouldn't stop anyone contacting the nationals or the computer press over this. Maybe the Charlotte Mitchell/Kevin Wall connection mentioned in ISP review April 23rd may be of interest to the nationals tho' http://www.ispreview.co.uk/light.php?search=E7even0 -
Consumer issues regarding broadband are not only 'unsexy' as far as the 'authorities' are concerned - but most organisations set up to help the consumer do not understand the problem nor show any inclination of trying to.
I went to the Citizens Advice Bureau a few months back when I was still with e7even - and not one person there knew what I was talking about - and they then referred me to one of FIVE solicitors for a free initial interview.
Having contacted all FIVE firms in turn - not one of them knew what I was talking about nor was prepared to give me the opportunity to explain broadband and the lack of getting what you pay for. All five firms dealt with consumer law.
So I gave up.
Some ISPs are giving customers a really bad deal, which contravenes certain consumer laws and possible other law such as breach of contract, - yet try and find someone to represent you who actally understands what we are talking about here - regarding e7even - and that's another ball game in itself.
Mention broadband to any consumer representative or solicitor and the 'too difficult' light comes on. You can see their eyes glaze over - or hear in the tone of voice.
How many consumers are being failed by these people, CAB, solicitors, even Courts, simply because they cannot/will not keep up to date and move with the times and the technology?0 -
Hi,
Trading Standards and OFCOM (whom we pay) seem to do nothing but rely on the credit card companies to refund (but this doesn't cover the dud migration code issues). Basically there seems to be no reason for them to exist if they don't do anything and still expect us to pay their wages. From what I can tell, this is actually a police matter but OFCOM seems to be nothing but a glorified market research department which is used instead of matters being referred to the police as a kind of circumlocution office. And trading standards/OFT seem to think that they are only there to appear every so often in the media and not to protect and serve the citizen who pays for their offices and their wages. In the end, OFCOM, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Office of Fair Trading have the responsibility. It's not about "helping us". We pay them to take the responsibility.
But a local newspaper may well do a front page splash on this and force some action:

I know it's an old thread - but a google search i did for "kevin wall" pulled it up.
I saw Kevin Walls name today and had a flashback, hence the search
About 5 years ago i worked for a new company that was setting up a deal with inet - kevin walls post Red Hot Ant company.
Kevin managed to go to jail midway through the deal so it never happened
However, i did visit them and his just pregnant girlfriend Charlotte Mitchell.
So yeah, i'd say there was a link0 -
I live in Maidstone. They aren't there anymore. When my broadband stopped working at the turn of the year, I did successfully bang on their door and they sorted it. However, when I got the message saying they were no longer trading, I went there again and they had left0
