Questions regarding billing

1. When a network provider says your next billing date is “6th May 2006”, does that mean on 6th May, your new minutes allowance begins or is that the last date of your current bill?

2. I signed up on 22nd April to 02, I have been told my first billing period is for 25th April to 6 May 2006 on pro rate basis, so does this mean all my next bills will have billing period starting on 6th of each month?

3. If a dealer says send your 4th bill in to claim cash back, technically is the 1st bill the pro rata bill one? Or does the 1st bill start from when you receive your full 1 month bill (after the pro rata one)?

From reading the second point, I assume that all your inclusive allowance will end on the 6th of each month. The new billing period where your inclusive allowance begins should be from the 7th of each month until the 6th of following month. Once you get your o2 bill it should be easy to know when your billing month starts and finishes.

IMO, technically the 4th bill should be the 4th bill you receive including the pro rata bill (1 pro rata and 3 full months). Each o2 bill will have a o2 account number followed by a number to say which bill this is, e.g. for the 4th bill it should end with "004".

You have to be careful when dealers are asking for the 4th bill. e2save say send in the 4th bill that you get, this means the bill ending in 004, which I find is correct. On the other hand, Phonebox Direct (PBD) and Cool New Mobile (CNM) for example say send in your 4th bill but mean your 5th bill (to be fair they say to send in the bill that is approximately 120 days after connection e.g. connect on 1st Jan and send in the bill that you get around 1st May). I don't see why they can't change their T&Cs to say send in the 5th bill instead of the 4th! I think it's maybe because it's to confuse customers and/or so they can reject claims for not sending in the "correct" paperwork?? Count the 120 days if you're still unsure!!! With PBD and CNM if you send in the paperwork early e.g. not time to claim yet, sending the 4th bill when it should be the 5th, they will punish you by charging you an admin fee of £25

Usually MSE members may know as they have already dealt with the company before. If they don't know then maybe email the company to be sure so that your claim will be valid.

Check each companies' T&Cs carefully before signing or agreeing to them so that you know the correct paperwork to send off for each claim!!

so so basically, its best to send it in as soon as possible so for example, if I need to send 4th bill, as soon as I get it, i send it to them so whether it meant 5th bill or whatever, as long as you sent the 4th one even if they say send it in 120 days?

With all cashbacks I would recommend to send the claims asap, the sooner you claim and is successful the sooner you will get your money back, IMO. ;) Also with some companies, they might tell you that it might be too early to claim and may give you the claim form back.

Depends which company your cashback is with. Usually the time to claim may vary from company to company, but still want the same information. If your cashback is with PBD/CNM then don't send your 4th bill (it should be the 5th because 120 days should have lapsed since you connection and this is the bill that comes after the 120 days have gone by), else you will have to pay their Admin costs!!! :(

You have not mentioned which company you took the cashback deal from. Which cashback company are you with? This information will make it easier for us to help you with further queries. I am making general statements here.

As I have not had any dealings directly with CPW directly or have taken out a cashback with them, I can't confirm which bill to send in. However upon reading the cashback form (online), it says to send in the "Copy of the 4th airtime bill issued from date of purchase". From this it means that the bill 4th bill you get from o2, ending in 004 is the bill that you need to send in with the claim form.

I'm sure that somebody else on here will confirm it, if not email, ring or go into a CPW to ask for clarity.

If you don't know already I would like to warn you about when sending in your claim to the CPW address that is on the claim form. The postcode is in the wrong format. Some one posted that the reason their claim wasn't valid was because RM could not deliver to that postcode as it was invalid, it should be a number followed by 2 letters. I think the postcode should be WS10 7WZ, NOT WS10 TWZ.

I have taken out a cashback deal with e2save (owned by CPW) in March 06 and on the form it tells me to send in my claim with the 4th bill that I get and this should be in June 06. :)

The terms and conditions that came with my contract says "WS10 7WZ".

Even if it had said TWZ, CPW would be at fault and they WOULD be liable for thier mistake and still have a duty to fulfil the cash back claim. They can't say no and you have the evidence. You can easily sue their a$$ in court and they would be the one who are going to pay the big bills.
