I know what you mean, I can understand the washable nappy one as that is an eco thing (mind you my little girl wears then due to being very allergic to disposables) but can't understand the other ones.

Breastfeeding is eco friendly too, no manufacturing involved, no bottles requiring sterilising energy and chemicals. No wasteful packaging or product to name a few.

And of course it's money saving which this site is all about!
  • I think the point people are trying to make is that not everyone can breastfeed - yes it is eco friendly but not everyone can do it. Washable nappies on the otherhand is something everyone can do - we have washing machines now which make it so easy to use them.
  • Slogan t-shirts neither promote breastfeeding nor dispel myths about it, it's a pointless exercise simply to show the world that you breastfed. I am very proud that I breastfed my children, but I don't feel the need to inform randoms on the street about it.

well I've ordered the badge which says "yes I'm breastfeeding and yes it's none of your business" because I am still BF my 2 year old and get fed up with peoples comments about stopping. Have also ordered the top that says "I like my milk from mummy not just any old cow!"

I have breastfed three children and am proud and I love these tops because I want the world to know I BF my babies. In my experience people are still very negative about breastfeeding and most people I know take the bottle feeding route so that they can leave their babies and go on nights out. If you choose to have a baby then you should choose to give it the best start in life by BF it.

I'm sorry, but that slogan sounds so unbelievably crude. :o Not to mention (again) being insensitive towards those who can't breastfeed. I would be very shocked if I saw someone wearing it.

The rest of your post is quite ill informed imho. Do you really believe what you wrote? Maybe 'people you know' are more interested in nights out than their babies, but that just says a lot about the company you keep. Nothing else. Please don't assume that all mothers are the same as these people you know.

Truly, I am shocked by your attitude. From your disparaging remarks about those who don't breastfeed to you 'wanting the world to know' that you breastfed your own children (like anyone else will be the tiniest bit interested - sorry, but why would they?). I guess Andy Warhol was right, except he underestimated the amount of attention-seeking narcissism which humans would turn out to be capable of.

    i love this site :D

Thanks very much for this I've just ordered and saved over £20.

I am currently breastfeeding my 3rd baby who is nearly 1, I fed my 2 boys till they were 2 1/2 yrs old, but when they get to that age it only ends up being once a day. Some people look at you gone out when you say you are still feeding at that age but hey ho I love my babes :kisses:
  • I don't see how these t shirts are insensitive, we all make our choices, I am a mum of one child who has a dairy intolerance and another who I am currently breastfeeding in order to prevent exposure to dairy in order to increase her chances of being able to tolerate it, I frequently find myself feeding in toilets that are allocated as feeding rooms so as not to offend people by feeding my child, am told that she is not getting enough milk because I am breast feeding instead of formula feeding despite her gaining more than enough weight, I have had blocked ducts, cracked bloody nipples and mastitus, cried whilst latching child on because it hurts so much and yet had to listen to numerous negative comments by people when a little bit of encouragement would be good.

Maybe these t shirts could encourage people to be proad instead of hiding away and less people would give up, because yes it hurts and yes you have to work at it, and if you just can't then its not you fault in any way!!!

OMG i can't believe you feed your LO in the toilet! Seriously I've been bfeeding for more than five years now (not the one child, keep gettng pregnant:rolleyes:) and never once had a negative remark while feeding out and about. Most people don't even notice, especially if you choose a seat that you have your back to everyone.
  • Blimey....people can be so touchy, I think anyone who is offended by these tshirts shows more about their own issues than the people buying them. If you make the choice to feed your children either formula or breast and that choice is best for you why find it offensive for someone else to make a different choice, or if they buy a tshirt about it?

And the person who said smug.....!!!!!!, they are doing what they feel is best for their children just like most parents do, why does buying a printed piece of cotton make that smug? Everyone parents differently, everyone has parts of parenting that they think is important, feeding, routine, wearing brand new clothes, properly fitted shoes, no sweets...the list goes on forever, just because someone choses a different path to you and advertises that fact doesn't make them smug.

Breast milk is better for babies than formula, that doesn't mean formula is bad for babies but a synthetic product is never going to be able to match up to something that is made by nature specifically for this purpose.

Why shouldn't people outwardly advertise their lifestyle choices, if they want to, just because it's not to your taste? If it offends you it is your problem not theirs.

This post isn't aimed at anyone inparticular, just my feelings on the subject.

Oh and for what it's worth I have 2 babies, neither were breast fed for long and they mostly had formula.

I appreciate what you're saying and, yes, everyone does make their choice. I'm just not sure why one would need to shout about it?

I don't think anyone is offended at someone else choosing to breastfeed (and being able to!) - it's the broadcasting of it that I find very odd.

Put it this way. What if you suddenly saw women wearing t-shirts saying 'Natural birth is best' or 'No forceps is best' or 'Having a full term pregnancy is best' or 'Saying no to an epidural is best'. These are all things that every mother would like to happen, but sometimes you just have no choice in the matter and it would surely be hurtful to someone who had to have a caesarean/forceps/an epidural/a premature birth. How would you feel about such t-shirts?
