How come its only £200 for you? I'm confused

think they meant the £200 they saved they can now spend on themselves

Has anyone gotten a confirmation email? I got an order acknowledgement email immediately after I placed the order, and it said a confirmation of order would come later. Looking at my account on Currys, it says "Payment Authorisation in Progress." Seems to be taking a long time; I'm hoping they honor the price! Is it standard procedure for it to take awhile to authorise payment at Currys?

Update: Order now says being processed through to dispatch, and I got an email stating:
"This is to confirm that we are starting to process your order. When we are
able to confirm your order we will send you a third email, which will also
confirm dispatch of the goods." I'm not sure what they mean "when we are able to confirm your order", I thought they just did that with this email. In any event, it looks probable that they will honor this deal. :)
  • If you missed this offer i've found another good one but with makro (makro is like a cash and carry, so you must add vat ontop) Its for a 40" flatscreen lcd samsung TV, with full HD 1080 and freeview built in for only £399.99 (you need to add vat to this)!:j
This offer starts on Wednesday the 6th looks very good.:D

Deal should be honoured. I've had a confirmation email and an electronic invoice showing £499 as the price. I also spoke to Currys CS to re-arrange delivery and there was no mention of the price not being honoured.

I know this is a rather old complaint - but I assume it is 720p? At least nowhere does it mention in the specification anything that could be interpreted as 1080p or Full HD.

If so, I think it is already obsolete. Especially if you have a huge 50" screen, you want the full resolution.

1080p is not the be all and end all like alot of people think !
  • I spoke to a currys advisor last night and they said that they had emailed head office about this offer and were advised that it was an incorrect price. He told me the problem would be rectified and in the meantime the people who did pay £499 would indeed pay £499. Hence i went straight away and ordered it. Now as per his word the price has changed back to £699. So i am confident to say if you have paid £499 then thats it .

Its may be as reflective as a CRT, but the screen is much bigger, so more noticable

No, I am sure we will see wall TVs and 2k in a few years - but where will you get the programming? 1080p is available now on BluRay, so that sets the bar.

And before you say that the difference is not visible: 720p is only 25% more than PAL (which is already quite a bit better than NTSC), while 1080p is 50% more than 720p.

I'm curious what people who bought this set think of it so far?
