  • On at least one occasion, HMcT himself reported one of his own posts and begged the moderators to remove it (and references other posters had made to it) after he'd reviewed it in the cold light of day! So, he himself contributed to the statistics which counted up to his troll status - in effect, he hastened his own exit.

Yeah, fair play on that one, but at least I've never lived on a campbed in my mums living room, trying to amend my debt junkie ways.....

Hows the back by the way?:D

  • Why on earth would I want to be on the 'Debt Free Wanna be' forum whan my assets far exceed my liabilities (try reading my previous post again)

    They don't get it.

I'm in a similar situation to you, I have a mortgage free house, another with a mortgage, and a decent sum of savings/investments that would pay off almost two thirds of the outstanding mortgage.

But the mortgage is currently 1%, and the savings earn far more.... Why pay it off?

And even if that wasn't the case, sometimes it's just good to have a reserve of cash for worst case scenarios. I have enough to live comfortably for a long time if I ever became ill or unemployed. That peace of mind is worth a lot more than a few percent returns.

That is a very good start Chuck. What tends to happen over there (and that is where you should be really, but I don't mind helping) is so-and-so will say "I have a few grand on credit cards", and then gradually the truth will out and it turns out they have 100k.

So if you sign up over there with your 40% idea, and with their trained help , you can 'fess up to the whole terrible truth. I wish you luck.

What on earth are you rambling on about?

40% idea? I am saying that my current mortages are only 40% of the current value of the property (therefore 60% equity).

Why on earth would I want to be on the 'Debt Free Wanna be' forum whan my assets exceed my liabilities (try reading my previous post again). If I wasn't in that position I would not have retired early in my 40's I would have carried on working.

Now you are here slagging off people from another forum with the same rubbish.

Prescisely where has he done this in this thread?

I should have copywritten the 'perma-pessmist' label, as it's looking like entering the Oxford dic.

Perma-pessimists do you realise there has been a resurgence in investor driven business lately? Ordinary common sensical folk that aren't interested in affordability, unemployment or head n shoulder inversions, just folk that find an ok yield and price, and take a long term view, end of.
  • The 25 years of interest payments would be substantially less than the rent paid over that period.

Using your example a 600k property producing say a 5% yield would now have a monthly rent of £2,500/month but the mortgage at say an average rate 0f 7% would only be £700. And you have the cheek to call me a moron!

    LOL two responses to that:

Couldn't handle it, In what way could I 'not handle it'?
Is calling someone a moron construcive criticism? I think not
