Well, I've emailed McQueen and they confirmed on the phone, from the photos I sent that the dress is fake. If the seller kicks off about it I need to send the dress down to them to verify it properly. They were really helpful and a bit bewildered that a dress had been faked.

Hello again, received a profuse apology from the seller and I'm sure they weren't to know it was fake. She's asking that I send the dress back for a full refund. McQueen confirmed it wasn't authentic over the phone. Do I sent it back? Do I raise a paypoo SNAD before doing so? If I do, they will want confirmation (though the seller has said she'll refund me) and McQueen have said they'd be happy to see the dress for full written confirmation. Not sure what route is best.

You don't have to send the dress back and apparently you're not supposed to send fake goods through the post, though if I were you in this situation where it's clearly unintentional, I'd just send it back via a recorded method at the sellers cost.

  • I agree, don't start a SNAD dispute. Just send it back at the seller's expense.

Thanks, seems like an good way to proceed so I'll email her this evening to arrange it. I can weigh it here to let her know the cost.

Just out of interest, how can you tell? I ask because I'm selling a McQueen blazer that I bought second-hand (£4.50 from Help The Aged in Chorlton - damn it not fitting) everything to me suggests it is genuine but obviously as I didn't buy it originally....

I remember you posting about this jacket ;-) I've PM'd you the pictures I uploaded for the seller and McQueen which gives you an idea. Basically though, the label is all wrong, the care labels are all wrong and the dress is...all wrong.
  • A tip for anyone buying DS games off E-Bay, who suspects they've got a fake, try googling the number on the front of the cartridge. The number on mine turned out to be the unique cartridge code for Driving Test, not Sherlock Holmes which was what the label said.

I bought a fake A&F polo a little while ago.
Normally I wouldn't be annoyed, but the seller had already sold 60 previous fake polos so he knew what he was doing. He had also posted professional photos from the A&F site on his item's page, when his just looked seriously shoddy. Then even had the cheek to say he felt he had unfair feedback because he thought giving me a refund was fair after me giving a negative, but still had the cheek to sell me a fake item in the first place.
