FlyMonarch hidden charge

Just when you thought that all the hidden extras were transparent, Monarch catch out out by applying a charging the seat.
Using the excellent Fightchecker.co.uk site I checked the flight Manchester/Malaga 7 Oct to be £55.69.
However when the passenger logs in and proceeds to complete the transaction, there is an invitation to "select a seat" - either £7.50 for normal, or £17.50 for extra leg room. Unless I am missing it there seems to be no opt out from this. This means flight headined £55.69 becomes a compulsary £63.19.
If I am mistaken could anybody help me avoid this "hidden extra" by Monarch.

You are mistaken.
It's not compulsory, so not a hidden charge.
They offer you the opportunity to book your seats or upgrade to extra leg room, but you can decline.
Don't select a seat and click "proceed".0 -
Thank you Quentin........I will try that.0
