Anyone had laminate flooring in a new build?

Is it just me that thinks laminate flooring is truly hideous, and makes any place look like a downmarket buy to let?
God I hate the stuff! I used to like it until we moved into our rental and its such a pain!! There are balls of fluff all over the place and dust gravitates to the skirting boards, well, just about anything really. It means I have to dust and hoover more, I don't like it at all as it causes way too much housework! On a serious note though, I really don't like it. Its flakes and scratches easy and its not cosy at all. And in those those dark winter months when everything is wet underfoot is really not a good time to have laminate flooring everyway. Give me uniformed carpet throughout anytime.
OP - I am guessing the same as the others is that Persimmon don't want the aggro of laying laminate down.. it is after all a right pain.0 -
izzybusy23 i have just swept ours and dd's room and mopped them, took less time to do than hoovering carpet as the edges are easier to keep cleaner than carpet ever was and they look brand new again, we have had ours for 2 years now and i am so pleased we got them over carpet. Our hall is carpet and is so so hard to keep clean, cat hair, dirty marks and food/drink drops etc make it last far less imo.
Each to their own though!0
