Problems with my breadmaker :(

I also had this problem with my BM, but have found that reducing the quantity of water and having the water slightly cooler than room temp. has rectified it. Perfect loaves every time!!!0

thing is...mine comes with a measuring cup thing and the recipe for wholemeal bread is 3 1/3 cups flour, 1 tsp cooking oil, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar, 2 tsp yeast and 1 cup water.
I thought...maybe I'm measuring the flour wrong in the cup and so proceeded to work out that 3 1/3 of the cups would be 27oz....that seemed a hell of a lot of flour
But then again....I'm new to this lark!;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0 -
I don't know if this is related but I always ended up with lop sided loaves, really high on one side and nothing much to the other side. I was putting the whole quantity of yeast on one side of the bread pan. I now spread it evenly and I get a proper shaped loaf. I don't have a viewing window though so I don't know if mine was rising/falling or just not rising.0

I don't know if this might help but I had the same problem until I started putting the water and oil in first, then the flour, making a well in the middle of the dry ingredients, then pouring the yeast into the well.
It's worth a shot??0 -

Very, very roughly, most recipes use 500g of flour and 300mls of water to make a medium loaf.Val.0 -
i'm sure you already are doing this but to add to the comment above about evenly spreading your yeast - try and make sure you add the ingredients in the order they are listed - took me ages to work out why i was having problems with mine! i was grabbing whatever was nearest and chucking it in, once i started to put them in in order of the recipe list all worked out fine! :cool:0

Ok...I tried the white bread recipe this morning. Followed the recipe to the letter and added the ingredients in the order listed. It says in the manual to put the yeast in last in a little heap in the centre of the pan...which I did. I checked it was set to do a 700g loaf (because all the measurements are for this size) and used the basic recipe setting as recommended in the recipe....
And this is how it turned out

can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong?
Or possibly give me an alternative recipe suitable for a breadmaker without using measurements in cups so I can try that and see if its a fault with the machine?!;)I am not a complete idiot - some parts are missing;)0 -
I can't get the photo to load so I can't see the problem - if it's that the loaf's collapsing then you could try using slightly less yeast than suggested in the recipe. I had the same problem with mine and this solved it, so it might be worth a try if you haven't already.
Back after a very long break!0
