That's a bit pants Luc.....Makes you wonder about some companies doesn't it
DH's HR department told him his sick pay ends next week, he'll go onto SSP from then, what they forgot to tell him until we looked at the staff manual is that, providing your long term sickness is being dealt with by a "consultant" that you're entitled to 75% of your salary after a 3 month stint on SSP.....added to that, that they asked him to provide email cover from home for bosses holiday, whilst he was signed off means they're on dodgy ground and are backtracking faster than you can imagine."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Well thats good news Pooky - at least you'll have some income coming in - 75% isnt a too drastic drop, though of course full pay would be better!
Am I right in thinking you dont work? Will you have to take up something p/t to make up the shortfall or can you manage?0 -
It's actually 75% of gross wage so it works out more than he's getting now per month, it's done through some insurance policy, not sure what happens about NI and pension contributions, still awaiting clarification on that.
The 3 months on SSP is being backed up be an intirim payment via the 3rd party insurance company (fingers crossed)...so we should be fine...just a bit scary when you don't know what's going on."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Ahh well that is good news! Hopefully it will sort out...any news how long the wait is for a specialist? (sorry being nosey as I work for an orthopeadics journal so have one or two ortho surgeons in the building
)

We're on a race on that one - he's been refered on the NHS (2 weeks ago) and Privately (on the 8th August)....no one can give any indication on how long the waiting lists are....the private referal was made via the medical report specialist who said that he'd flagged is as an "urgent referal" and wanted him seen within a week....hmmmmm
That's tomorrows job, get the names and start badgering!:rolleyes:"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Yeah it is a weird specialist area - neck can be covered by either upper limb or spine depending on whats happened - spine has more specialists in the us but here isnt that big - upper limb is more popular as a specialty because you get lots of interesting clavical breaks that require pinning from road accidents and stuff...

Thanks for that.......Typically there's no one listed that does clinics near us. We're seeing the GP tomorrow so I shall find out who she refered him to."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

You may have to transfer out of area to see the right specialist sadly...ortho is the biggest surgery field in the UK but its very concentrated in London and the big cities so often patients have to travel quite far to see someone - she may just refer you to a general ortho person for now and see where that goes...
Good luck getting it sorted!0 -
Thanks.....hope it's not too far out - I don't dive and he can't..fun fun fun!
DD2 is playing Animal Crossing - it has to be the most annoying sounding game on the planet :rolleyes:"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
