Quinn Direct - any good?

The Regional Managers are paid a basic wage + car allowance and then they earn commission based upon how they handle a claim.
If they can get the insured to accept a cheque for less than say £500 in final settlement then the manager gets a £250 bonus. If he can reject a claim for terms infringement then he gets another payment, if he can keep a third aprty fro not sueing by agreeing a sewttlement then another £200 quid and so it goes on. if a claim takes longer to resolve then the commission goes up and if you are a good salesman (that is, convince people to take the money and/or go away) can earn several thousand pounds on top of that basic salary. I've changed the actual values they get paid for privacy purposes but use values to describe how things work.
Do you want your insurance claim to be handled by someone who is looking after their own vested interested first and yours second?.
Not knocking Quinn per se, they have a very different business model to everyone else, so like flying RyanAir, as long as the customer knows the differences between a normal insurer and Quinn then they can offer some excellent prices but don't expect a hire car or a friendly Scots lass from a call centre, they will quite literally send the boys around to deal with you.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -
Jasonlvc hypothetically how much commission would a regional manager make if he got a timber yard to accept £14.7m in full and final settlement for a claim that is worth £36.4m?0

I've no idea I'm afraid - my information comes from the fact a colleague of mine a few years back left the accounting industry to go work for Quinn as an RM.
He said it was a tough job as he had to govisit clients who lived mainly in inner city/rough parts of town and he sometimes was fearful dealing with some clients - I'm sure you know what I mean.
However, he was pulling in about £60k a year but gave it up eventually as too much stress for him (targets to hit and angry clients) but I'd imagine there'd be a bit of killing if you could negotiate a half price settlement there and then.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Hi All
Avoid Quinn Insurance at all costs, My friend used to work for them as a Regional Claims Manager (RCM) and what she told me would make your hair curl
You have absolutely no reason to believe my view but if it looks too good to be true then generally it is too good to be true
The fact that she was not insured with them despite a generous staff discount was a clear sign to me to stay away0
