Does any company include overseas in unlimited texts?

At the moment I am with Asda Mobile and pay 4p per text but it is the same price for texting overseas as UK.

Does any provider allow texting overseas in their unlimited texts deals?

  • I think O2 allow it but as its overseas they use x4 normal UK text messages - if that makes sense!

Since I started texting a friend in Oman last April.
I send approx 6 texts a day and they all get charged at 4p. I was surprised as well but I check my balance frequently that is how i know.

No, they charge 12 pence with ITS and a little more without

The 4 for 1 inclusive arrangement applies to UK-bound texts sent while roaming

Therre are some text services that use a mobile Java client to send an equivalent via data. The only one cheaper than 4p is Fishtext, which will give you a small amount of credit to try it.

Some of these services have free messages between their users when both are online, but staying online all the time may cost more due to the data cost of constant pinging to check for updates. If your messges are quickly back and forth, rather than spread throughout the day, maybe pay the first to make initial contact, then both sign in.

The correct Asda charge for texting a foreign mobile (any location) is 20p per text.
