I went with plusnet as it said it was voted the no1 internet provider.
The customer service is a bit dicey sometimes as its located in India.
It seems fine. BT prices are far too high. I have to commit for 18 months.
apparently 0845 and 0870 numbers are going to be included in with the free calls after 6pm.
They did say that if phone line was installed i wouldnt have to pay anything.the BT man switched it on but theve still charged me.He was only here for 5 minutes. they are crafty. I will have to contact them and say they said no charge. I had to pay £105 upfront for line installationIf you find something irritating in my post or that you disagree with, then please don't jump on me ,just please ignore my post.I have come to the site for useful information and not to argue. thanks.0 -

their essential phone and broadband package is £17,74
which give your broadband, linrental and local calls and 0870/0845 calls evening and weekend0 -
TalkTalk provide their low cost essentials package only because they can move all 3 elements of the service (line rental, calls and broadband) to their own equipment at the exchange. This process is often called Full-LLU. Even the phone line (the local loop) becomes (mostly) theirs and that why BT may charge you a lot to take it over again.
In areas where TT don't have LLU equipment - many smaller exchanges - or even where that equipment is full of users they can only give you Broadband by buying it wholesale from BT like most ISPs do. That is MUCH more expensive, AND even the calls & line rental are more expensive to provide. Their own site does want to tell you until you type a non-LLU phone number in BUT I believe they charge £15 extra. Making it £6.49+11.25+15.00 = £32.74. That gives a pretty average price as there is a lot of broadband around for 21.49.
NB: Almost all other LLU broadband is only Partial-LLU as only the broadband aspect is linked to the (often Wholesale) ISP's own equipment. So you would pay to move your broadband back to the BT world but your phone is there all along.0 -
