What do you with your rubbish ?. What happens when you need the police or fire brigade ?. Do you not walk down the street or use the roads ?.
I throw away very little rubbish and have never used any emergency services or the NHS. There's more than enough cash coming in from income tax and value added tax to fund what I do use.

As for roads, that's what road tax is for. They've got you so confused you're actually thinking that there are multiple taxes for the same things now lol Bless

If you throw it away someone's got to pay to shift it. The NHS aren't paid for out of council tax and you'll still expect the police and fire brigade to turn up if you ever need them.

Vehicle Excise Duty isn't used for local road repairs- it's central treasury tax on vehicle ownership.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

They are more interested in !!!!ing away money funding diversity and equality projects that >75% of people don't want. They put up red tape and create complexity where none needs exist.

I don't pay council tax on moral grounds, I'm glad to see at least one poster here also has some dignity and common sense. Obviously that's not you. :money:

    Were you educated privately?
People with such a narrow mind and so little knowledge of the services provided by councils are difficult to argue with because no arguement they put forward makes sense.

If you feel the need to believe the tripe in your post then feel free.

Civil Disobedience - I don't think Tory controlled councils are run by Communists, I believe these 2 parties are at opposite ends of the political system.

I actually think you are a bailiff short of work, posing as an anarchist, but in fact an agent provocateur, trying to persuade people not to pay their council tax, so that councils have to send in the bailiffs to get their money.

However if you are a genuine anarchist then please accept my sincere apologies for doubting you.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

I wasn't going to argue any more on the subject, but oh ok...

For a start, aside from council tax, I'm sure there is enough money to go around given the amount we pay in: income tax, corporation tax, national insurance, VAT, stamp duty, inheritance tax, tax on savings, tax on investments, road tax, tv tax, duty on fuel, duty on cigarettes, duty on alcohol not to mention local revenue sources such as parking charges, parking fines and speed cameras. Please don't say that all the above is seperate and that we should be taxed in addition to this for bin emptying and police officers. Such an argument implies it's ok to just tax us all further based on existing revenue sources "being used for other things."

Secondly, council employees can take up the issue of working conditions with their directors or head of their council, who probably earns in excess of £100k a year.

And if the "more intelligent" posters here (darich's words, not mine) believe they don't already pay through the nose in tax, and that their local council offers exceptional value for money, then good luck to them.

I'm not even going to start on the corruption and colossal amounts of money that are wasted by most local councils - anyone with half a brain knows the kind of thing that goes on. It is this which really riles me. And should anyone be in any doubt, they can start their own investigations using The Freedom of Information Act.

Civil Disobedience - I don't think Tory controlled councils are run by Communists, I believe these 2 parties are at opposite ends of the political system.

I think what he's getting at, is we now live in a society where everyone is equal. If you work, you're entitled to money. If you don't work, you're still entitled to money. Even with zero contributions you have access to hospitals, legal aid and everything else. Those who do work are taxed into oblivion and not much better off than those who don't. I could be wrong, but I think that's what he meant by "communist".

I'm not an anarchist, I just live outside the little self-imposed mental boxes that most people do.

Unlike most people, when the government says jump I say lolwut?

You will find New Labour, New New Labour (Cameronites) and Old New Labour (Lib Dems) are all riddled with ex- and current Communist Party members. Maybe you should do a little homework. Recently Mandelson announced he was a proud commie and he practically runs the government.

Common Purpose is like a cancer riddled through most councils and the three-headed-but-one-policy beast (LibLabCon).

Pay-as-you-throw, aka wheelie bin tax. Guess you've never heard of it. I'm sure you'll be in favour of it when your wheelie bin gets microchipped. :j

The government must be delighted having Citizens like you, comrade lolol
