Using Noikia 5800 as internet dongle
Options
Hello folks,
Can anyone please advise me whether there is any way to connect my Nokia 5800 (on Vodafone with unlimited internet) to my laptop and use it as a mobile dongle? I wouldn't be using it for much in the way of web browsing but would need it for MSN access, so hopefully data transfer amounts wouldn't be huge (ie should be able to keep below the fair usage amounts).
My laptop is running Vista in case that makes any difference.
Hope the above makes sense. Thanks.

Download Nokia PC suite to your computer and connection should be easy.0

Done the same on my 5800, but used jokuspot lite, free download, makes the 5800 a wi-fi hotpsot, works alike a dream.

Joikuspot is useful, but will eat the battery life if you use it a lot, as does even just 3g use as modem. I bought a phone charger that plugs in to a USB port on the PC, cost a couple of quid on eBay0

I'd never heard of Joikuspot before, I've just tried it and it works well, advantage over a USB cable is if you are in a poor reception area you can put your phone in a position to receive a signal. Disadvantage 1:You can't receive or send emails unless you subscribe to the premium joiku. 2: Anyone else in range can also use your mobile.0

you can try logging in to the webmail of your provider, and you can choose WEP or WPA encryption
and for more than occasional use 15 euros is hardly expensive anyway0
