Is this likely to be worth anything?

Today at a charity shop I purchased a hard backed, first edition that is signed by the author for just 35p! The book is 12 years old and is in very good, if not mint condition. Is it likely to be worth anything?

It would depend on what it was and who wrote it! If I wrote a book 12 years agao, and it made only one print run and I signed all of them, they'd still be worth naff all LOL.No, Mr A, that is NOT 'Great news'!!

Wombling totals: Oct = £243.32 - £93.32 over target!
Nov Wombling Tally: £27.36 so far... behind target

Really??? Terry Pratchett signs anything, there's probably more signed Pratchett stuff than un-signed knocking aboutfrivolous_fay wrote: »It's all about the author

Very true, it depends on the book and author. Pratchett did signing sessions for all his books in Manchester so they are two a penny. However, say you had a signed copy of Science Fantasy Magazine which contains The Hades Business, that would be a different story...
I'm curious to know what the book is now...0 -
Terry Pratchett is often quoted as saying that his unsigned books are worth more than his signed books as they are rarer.
I still won't part with mine though as he made some really sweet comments in some of them

Lot of the charity shops especially the bigger charties hive off anything worth anything to sell on Ebay so its doubtful. I guess you still get lucky. Stick it on Ebay for 99p and see if you get lucky.0

Thanks for the offer - I've been to two signings and have a handful of signed copies (inlcuding a HB The Last Continent, signed in Australia, Auusie-style personal dedication, heh!) but I'd feel bad about adding to the poor guy's signing burden now!My TV is broken!

Thanks for your responses. I've done a bit of googling since my original post and there is a similar book but an unsigned version on a site selling for £14 and other titles by the same author that are signed and first editions are selling for £30+
I know selling prices are different from buying ones but I don't think I'll be reading this one in the bath!0
