Quickest way to set up Broadband contract? & Talk Talk problems....

I'm trying to set up broadband for someone else.
TalkTalk were ordered (landline account already existed so just requested upgrade to broadband), confirmed via email two weeks ago yet when I rang them to check on progress, they claim they have no order and the order number they confirmed doesn't exist!!!
They've re-set it up again and now installation is another 3 weeks away - but despite them waiving the installation fee to remain with them, I remain sceptical after an hour or so on the phone to their customer service...
3 weeks is also a long wait, after already waiting 2 weeks - are other companies quicker? They claimed I wouldn't find another company to set it up quicker but this sounds like bs maybe?
TT seem to have notoriously bad customer service, which other companies are recommended for good CS with UK call centres?
What other options are there for getting online in the meantime, if I do continue to wait for TT to set it up for 3 weeks time?

If you have already signed up (at 2nd attempt) then may be a bit late to cancel now.
O2 are by far the best for price and service if you can get them LLU on your exchange. 2 weeks is more typical for a new provide ADSL line.
Suggest you just use a PAYG dial up service in the meantime, or PAYG mobile broadband. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

They said I still have 14 days to cancel from setting up order at 2nd attempt (and 30 days from when it goes live). Will have a look at O2 - I don't have much/any confidence in TT...
Will investigate PAYG dial up for meantime then!0 -
If you have a problem with Talktalk, use the members forums (provided you have an account number). These can be found here and are much better than phone customer service.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0
