......the name TESCO is a abbreviation of TEssa COhen the original bosses wife.0 -
I thought it was T E Stockwell & co?? OO shall we open a big debate lol :rotfl:
Jack Cohen founded Tesco. The first store was opened in Burnt Oak, Edgeware, North London in 1929. The name TESCO comes from T. E. Stockwell who was a partner in a firm of tea suppliers and the CO comes from Jack Cohen's surname. .:rotfl:0 -

So at the checkouts, I managed to embarrase the manager, by saying only...
Me: So are you saying that I cannot have these pens?
Manager: They are not for sale. Incorrect price
Me: Well, under the trade description act 1987, section 2 states that its marked for sale at a price should be sold tthe marked price....(I dont have the first clue about anything I have just told the manager!)
Manager: ok..ok..ok i'll let you have these this time.
Me: Ok thats fine, ju before you go, can I have your Area Managers contact details.
Manager: Just check to see if these are the correct pens!!!

What has romance got to do with the myth (as we've agreed it's Mr T, shouldn't that be "myth-tah"?) that Mr Cohen named Tesco after his wife?0 -

They don't legally have to sell you them at that price, they could have refused to sell them to you. She obviously let you have them as a goodwill gesture. When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........0 -

Just been into my local Tesco, and hunted out the 'jotters'. No lower price displayed, still show same price as all the other parker pens, so not sure if I had the right one. All the self scan machines not working, so thought I would just try one at the till - used the self serve one. Came up as 74p, shot back and grabbed 3 more. Many thanks for the post - Thanks button seems to have vanished again !!0
