Build / Rebuild your score. Poor scorers should apply for expensive (30%+) credit cards, spend a little each month, but ALWAYS repay in full to avoid interest. This should slowly improve your score. See the cards anyone can get.

I apologise laplange, you are correct. Martin, this is not good.
I myself was declined for a Vanquis card three years ago. It is clear that it is not the case that anyone can get these cards.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

Thumbs up as always to Martin, we all make mistakes. You only have to take one look at my credit rating to see that.

    What to do.
    • Be on the electoral roll. If not, you’re unlikely to ever get credit.
    • Check addresses on your file. Get your credit file see how to check for free and ensure every active account, even if unused, has the correct address. Errors can trigger rejection.
    • Delink from past relationships. Write to credit agencies asking to be delinked from any ex you had joint finances with. This stops their credit history impacting your applications.
    • Amend errors. If you think your file’s wrong, ask the lender to correct it. If it won’t, add a notice of correction to your file explaining why it's unfair & complain to the
    • Cancel unused cards. Access to too much credit, even unused, isn’t positive.
    • Build / Rebuild your score. Poor scorers should apply for expensive (30%+) credit cards, spend a little each month, but ALWAYS repay in full to avoid interest. This should slowly improve your score. See the cards anyone can get.

To be fair it lists a nubber of options without saying all of them are available to anyone. Towards the end of the listing it shows the prepaid cards, which I believe anyone can get.

When you click the "cards that anyone can get" link, you are taken to the section titled Use ‘expensive’ credit cards - it then goes on to list such cards as Vanquis, Monument, etc.

It does not link you to the prepaid cards. laplange is exactly right.

Well yeah, it takes you to expensive cards and then prepaid cards are the next section down, I guess that means it's open to interpretation, and it's definitely far from being clear.

  • I have a defaulted payment to Vodafone in 2006, one late payment to next, and a late loan repayment to lloyds which is now clear.

I have 35 old addresses on there. Will that effect it?
