Swine Flu help

Got a bad cold so i called swine flu helpline, they said i need tamiflu tablets and gave me a number to call as they said do not go pick it up yourself as you could spread infection.

Called the Primary Trust and explained, gave them the code number and he said get someone to get if for you i said "I was advised you could deliver it as your primary care" he said no i was told wrong and put me through to a automated mailbox number.

Feeling like i was going to be on a unlucky streak again i went to the doctor and explained, receptionist near had a fit and said i shouldn't be there and said she doesn't know what i should do.

Phoned the swine flu line back and explained the primary care would not deliver it, they said it was all they could do and "...hope you sort it out then, goodbye" and hung up.

Last resort phoned NHS direct and explained, by this time i had spent £9+ on the 0845 calls, i explained and the phone cut off, phoned me back and i told them i had completley run dry of credit and had absoloutley no cash left for any fares to go anywhere or for any more phone calls, she gave me a number and said "phone this number." i said "I have told you, i have no money or credit left i can not phone anyone anymore" she said "When you get some cash phone that number then, its all we can do .... and in the meantime if your symptoms get worse give us a call back" i said "i told you i can't phone you" she said "Goodbye now"

So i do not get any cash until Tuesday now, in bed with swine flu, and no medication at all, with asthma and feeling like crap

And they said they had enough tamiflu to treat the whole nation, well it will stay that way if they wont give it to anyone either, whoever comes into contact with me is at risk now, for 6 days, and i have to go to the jobcentre tomorrow to sign on.... i can't wait to move abroad.

Thanks for reading my rant.

A cold AND swine flu? Or you have a cold, and take the phone call as a medical diagnosis of swine flu?

I thought the novelty of swine flu was wearing off?

Can't you get a family member to nip to the chemist for some Lemsip (or an alternative if you can't take that)?

Firstly, do you actually have swine flu, or is it just a bad cold? One of the main symptoms of swine flu is a high temperature (although if you don't have a high temperature it doesn't necessarily mean you don't have swine flu). Also, did you explain that you are asthmatic?

Also, if you go to this web page, it does a swine flu symptoms check online, which will give you an authorisation code to get antiviral drugs if you have symptoms of swine flu:

I must say, for someoene with flu you've managed relaly well gettting out and about and phoning people.

Unless you're in a high risk category you don't need to take Tamiflu just because you might have swine flu. Stay in bed and rest, just like you would with seasonal flu and you'll be better in days.

I think everyone's meant to have 'swine flu buddies' who can fetch and carry for them in the event that they aren't allowed out.

Although tamiflu isn't meant to be all it's cracked up to be, as an asthmatic, I would defnitely get your hands on it.

OK i do not know if i have swine flu, just one of the damn worse colds i have ever experienced i feel dead on the floor, i was trying hard to walk around with my joints aching and nose streaming with snot, sneezing a lot, coughing, its either swine or something nasty i don't know as the doctors wont see me.

I have no friends here or family members, that is why they referred my to primary care to get it delivered, but primary care said they dont deliver - i am going round and round and now i'm skint, can't phone anyone or go anywhere - same situation and no better off for all my efforts. Yes i did tell them i am asthmatic, both nhs direct, swine flu helpline and my doctors receptionist.

    bad service for this pandemic.

It does raise a good point. Its okay for those people with friends and family nearby who can collect the medience for them but surely there is some kind of system if you do not have anyone who can go for you.

If OP can get down the job centre to sign on without so much hassle, why can't you pick up some Tamiflu so easily?
