HDMI Cable, Best For The Price!

Hi Chaps

Not posted on here for ages.

Just bought a Samsung LE32B530 1080p LCD and the Samsung DVD1080P9 player to go with it and had to buy a HDMI cable for the first time. Having bought interconnects before I knew what a mine field it was going to be, so when I spotted a great cable at 7dayshop.com I bookmarked the page so that I could buy it when i'd got something to use it on!

It's a Konig 24k plated HDMI cable sold here for £14.99:http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_5&products_id=106044

Here is the 7dayshop blurb from the page:
For the money, this has to be one of the nicest looking cables we have ever seen! Thick, braided mesh outer core, finished with a distinctive yellow hoop and super heavy 24k Gold connectors.
These cables fully support HD all the way up to and including 2160p, they are also certified and will satisfy even the most critical of viewer!
We have seen big 'branded' cables sell for nearly 5 times the amount of these! Do yourself a favour and see the difference.

The build quality is absolutely fantastic and its a 1.3c Spec (wikipedia HDMI) cable which is even better. In my meagre opinion it's the best cable about for the money. The picture is stunning, although I had nothing to compare it to I must admit. This post is really for those who don't want to waste silly money on the cables that are being sold at currys, dixons, pc world and the like but still want a good cable and don't know where to start.

Oh, I didnt buy mine from 7dayshop in the end, I got mine from a chap on Ebay for £12.99 delivered the next morning. Just search for HDMI Cable 24k Gold 1.5m HD V1.3c LCD Blu Ray Sky PS3 on ebay, sold by gazglasgow cant fault the chap (and no I dont know him!)

Hope this helps at least one person

HDMI cables cost about £4 from eBuyer, no need to ever pay more :)

Agreed. If you pay more than a fiver then you are paying too much.

It's a very nice looking cable, but as has been pointed out, you can get much the same thing for less.

Still, it certainly beats that £99 HDMI cable nonsense they try to push on you in Currys.

I hooked my Samsung SkyHD+ box up to my LE37B650 with the Sky supplied HDMI cable and my Panny Freeview DVD recorder with a £3.49 cable from Poundstretcher. The picture quality from both sources is excellent.

I'm more fussy about the quality of analogue interconnects (I make my own generally) and speaker cable (worth paying for something decent), but I'm of the opinion that reasonable quality is good enough for digital. The cable in the OP looks pretty decent though and will certainly be at least as good for the purpose as much more expensive ones.

    to a point.
eg i used a cheap 7 day shop HDMI cable on the PS3 and it wouldnt allow me to select 1080p
no end of configuration changes were trierd but to no avail
a 1.3B certified cable was bought and works fine.(under a tenner)
the cheaper cable works but just didnt seem to allow the bandwidth for full 1080p

It really all depends on the size of the television's screen and the length of the cable.

A short, cheap cable works with a small television but for a large screen and any cable length of 5 metres, or greater, you need something better.

On our way home from buying a Blu-ray player and a 1080p upscaling DVD recorder/player we picked up a couple of 2 metre HDMI leads at Tesco (it was Boxing Day!) for £10 each.

They're fine with the 20" Sony LCD in the kitchen but the 52" Sony in the lounge benefitted visibly from being given a 5 metre lead of superior quality.

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

  • I bought that exact same Konig cable from 7dayshop a few months back in a clearance sale for £4.99! Before that I had spent £70+ on QED HDMI cables, which are awesome, but their is no noticable difference between any of them - just confirms what the gadget show said!

I use top grade mains filters on my hifi and av setup and I can easily tell a difference from a cheap one to a decent one. Id guess the main reason the gadget show failed to see a difference was because the place would be full of RFI and EMI emmisions which would distort the picture a little meaning any noticeable difference apparant would be impossible to see

Yes ~ I too thought 'digital was digital' but because of 'jitter' and bandwidth problems amongst the more common analogue problems there are differences.

Most people though will never see a difference as theyll never have the correct setup to appreciate the difference (Then theyll go and post on forums that there is no difference)

You certainly dont need to spend a lot just to get 1080P as we all know but this cable is a very good start point for not only being able to view 1080P but being able to view them in better quality (In the right setup)
