I don't think that your family will lose anything - you have brought your daughter up well obviously - she has a job, she is starting to save, you have already worked out how much she will contribute to the family budget - I would say that congratulations all round are in order - you've reared a young lady who is prepared to work for her living!

Good luck to her - and to you and your family!

I think that the next one down starts to be counted as the oldest child.

    Yep, that's correct!

NB NICE FORUM AND HI ALL

family allowance should have been paid for the last time on 31/8 if you have told them she has left full time education,as would ctc,if you havent told them any payments received after that date will be overpayments which you will have to pay back. You will have been contacted by child benefit people at least once probably more in recent weeks.

As stated, no its £20pw for 1 child and £13.20 for every child thereafter. It doesn't matter which child is which, you will always receive £20 for 1 and £13.20 for every additional child.

Because your income is relatively high at £42k, you will be on the basic tax credits which is £547pa (£42 Every 4wks) If you were earning say £15k you would be entitled to a hell of a lot more and this is classed as the child elements. At the moment a child element is around £2200 for every child you have, so if you had 5 children that would be £11k. The child elements are phased out the higher the earnings you have, by £42k they are completely wiped out so you would only ever see the basic family element. If you were to earn over £60k, you would lose this family element also.

So the only thing you will lose is £13.20pw
