Mobile Internet

Options
Me & my wife have recently moved into a unfurnished rented property. We want the internet on our laptop. I have noticed there is no phone line to the property and at the moment don't want 1. Can any1 recommend a way of getting the internet on both laptops with a phone line. I suppose it might have to be 2 internet dongles?
My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.

I assume a typo - assumed you mean without a phone line, since you dind't want one...

You're in luck, there is such a thing as a mobile broadband router - three launched one not that long ago - http://www.three.co.uk/Mobile_Broadband/Huawei_D100_Router - I'm sure there are other mobile broadband routers out there though...

As this is a money saving forum, I should advise you that it may well be less expensive and more effective to get two dongles, depending on your pattern of usage.

Especially when they are as little as £4.95 each.

Hint: Click on the price. :)

I think I'm right in saying that using a mobile broadband router would mean running two laptops from one connection? If so two dongles would be a better idea in terms of speed.

but you'd be paying twice for a subscription? you only will need one subscription with a router. if the OP uses/needs more monthly usage, they can upgrade to the next option and still probably save money compared to having 2 accounts

First of all, the router will cost them £60 to £70. I doubt if they want to be bound to a long term subscription, but the modem available one a one month subscription is...wait for it...a ZTE; doesn't work with the router anyway.

You can connect the other laptop by other means, including Bluetooth.

    Bluetooth dongles are cheap.

If you do decide 2 risk getting mobile broadband, then do not go for 3 - all the horror stories about poor reception, poor reliability are true - you pay for what you get.

Go with the likes of 02 or Vodafone - much better providers
