Switching procedure: avoiding downtime
I'm switching from T-Mobile to ASDA for the pay-per-mb data.
Switch will be tomorrow. They tell me to put in the ASDA sim card by 9am and the switch will take place between 9am and 4pm. That would mean being offline for up to 7hrs.
I asked could I wait till my old T-Mobile service is disconnected; the asda representative said no, the new sim has to be in by 9am.
What do you think? Can I wait for the old service to be disconnected before swapping sims? Or does the new network really need to communicate with the sim card to set up the service?
(Of course if I could find an old phone I can just put one sim in each.)
Thanks!
