£382 is the cheapest i found for around your dates, you might find cheaper to newyork but by the time youve paid to get to philly and the hassell and time involved it probably would be worth the saving.
do you know where abouts in philly your friend lives? i can give you plenty of advice on how to get into the city and the suburbs
  • I think she lives in westchester but that's a guess, i'll have to get more information off her, the place shippensburg rings a bell... anyway if i can get out there i'll be getting picked up i'm sure so not worried about that.

At just under £400 i really can't afford that. nevermind, i guess i'll have to save up for next year unless i win some money soon!

    thanks for your help.

Cheapest you will get in the sale at present is £289 with AA, £299 with BA or VS. These are London to NYC flights. Some airlines also require a Saturday night stay, to achieve the cheaprest fare.

BA LONPHL is £309, in their sale.

APD tax increases from November for certain destinations too, something else to be aware of.

I know there are extremely cheap buses that run from DC to NYC (from $1 per seat each way), so I assume there are cheap buses from Philly to NYC. It genuinely isn't worth flying from philly to NYC or vice versa - you are actually quicker to use a bus.

If you decide to go to New York you could always catch a Megabus. The journey time from New York to Philadelphia is approximately 2hrs.

There are other alternatives as you probably all ready know; I’ve used this one as an example.

If you don't mind the hassle, as mikeouk has pointed out, this could cost you as little as $1 - $5 if you book now. You'll need to get to the bus station from the airport of course which will add extra hassle to your journey.

Megabus New York departures are located adjacent to Penn Station, on the north side of West 31st Street at the northeast corner of 31st Street and 8th Avenue. At Philadelphia arrivals and departures are located on the south side of John F. Kennedy Boulevard, near North 30th Street and the west entrance to the 30th Street Station. The 30th Street SEPTA Station is located nearby at the corner of Market Street and North 30th Street.

This info is from Megabus USA's pick-up and drop-off locations page. Click on Bus Stops for more info.

Philli doesnt seem that far away actually, I would definately think about hiring a car or doing the public transport thing
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • If you want or need more info on your journey you could always post a query on trip advisor also. I’ve used this website many times and have found it very helpful.
