I cannot believe, I have been ripped off by this company, I decided to buy some earrings from them-For my birthday!!
My husband then told me, he would buy them instead as a gift.
BEFORE I BOUGHT THE EARRINGS, I contacted the company and asked them to tick "gift" on the customs declaration form and also put a low value to avoid custom fees!! They agreed to do this for me...
I waited so long to recieve my parcel, And discovered that the company declared the full amount on the customs slip, resulting in me having to pay customs a further $85
OK, This is the fifth time i have worn these earrings and guess what?
They are turning BLACK!!!! So i have obviously been ripped off and sold some fake mess!!
They have now stopped answering my E-Mails.
I am anoid with myself
Any help and advice would be appreciated. Since I AM overseas this is a difficult one.
Oh yeah, i paid via paypal-made a paypal claim and was told because i did not buy from Ebay, paypal cannot do anything for me?
who can i contact about this? the better business bureau?

Silver does turn black, doesn't matter if it is sterling or plated, its the exposure to the air that does it, when not being worn, they should be stored in either the box they came in or a small airtight bag, you can clean them to ge the tarnishing off and it may pay to buy some anti tarnish tabs to put in your jewellery box.
As to the customs charge, it doesn't matter if it is a gift, the item has been purchased and so there will be a customs fee, the only way it can be a gift is if you buy something and then send it yourself as a gift.
Also, I note that you asked the company to put a low value price on the customs sticker, hmmm that's fraud.0 -
A lot of companies put a lower value on the customs declaration slip for me, to avoid custom charges.i did not know that was fraud!!
They are gold earrings not silver...
I have worn them five times...andi do store them in the box they came with along with some sheets that the company provided!!!
Sorry did not realise caps lock was on!0 -
They can't be gold if they are tarnishing. Exactly how were they described?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

i have put the item description above already.
i'm not sure about hallmarks, i will be taking them for an appraisal though...0 -
If they are 10K, then it looks like whatever they have been 'mixed' with is reacting to your skin, when getting them apprised, see if they can establish what the other metals are (I would put money on it being nickel), and also see if they can check if it is a gold compound (ie gold and other materials) or if it is filled gold/rolled gold (not as good as gold, even 9K gold, but is heavier duty than plating)
Have to say though, I stil have concerns about you defrauding HMRC0 -

I would be very careful. You have commited fraud by asking them to send it as a gift and of low value. If you kick up a fuss they might be tempted to forward your correspendence to customs. To be honest they probably think your a loony. First you demand they commit a fraud then you claim that the earings are fake. Its no wonder they are refusing to communicate with you. Just look at it from their view. There doesn't seem to be anything bad on a google search about them so its probably just a one off faulty. I thought paypal covered you for your purchases no matter who you brought from??!0
