Lovefilm - dont seem to send me any DVDs!

Been with them a month - on a 2 disc at a time package.

I have 30+ titles in my 'rental list'

Yet they dont seem to send any out....none of them are on a long term wait etc.

Only recvd about 4-5 in 4 weeks...and when I go online, it never shows what DVDs have been sent or returned!

Is this he norm with Lovefilm?

  • Hmm. No. Not at all ! It shows what you have in your list, what's "on rent", what is coming to you soon and so on... or should do. I've been a member for 4 months and had about 60 discs so far.

I've been with them for a couple of years via Tesco. The key is to complain every single time something goes wrong, or they're late, whatever. They'll start adding extra days, but eventually you will get better service from them. I assume the same thing applies to dealing direct, since LoveFilm do all the servicing anyway.

Just don't be fobbed off with their form emails; demand proper answers and they will realise it's more cost-effective to play straight with you than to mess around.

    Good luck.
  • We've been with lovefilm for ages and I have to say I've always been impressed with their customer service, I hadn't used their service for about 5 months when I was living on my own simply because I don't like watching films on my own (I know, silly) and I'd lost one of the dvds as I'd moved around about 3 times (different addresses as I was in London during the week then would go home to one of two different addresses at the weekend) so I called to cancel as I wasn't using it and my bf was also using the service, there didn't seem to be any point us both using it. So, to get to the point, I called to cancel, the lady I spoke to said don't worry about the dvd, we won't charge you, and saw that I hadn't used the account for months and refunded me about 5 months membership fee!

However we have noticed recently that things have got quite slow, this may be partially due to the fact that there have been various postal strikes recently as the dvd has to reach them for them to then send out the next one. We're going to see how it goes and then call and complain...
:D**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

I have about 70 dvds in my wants list. Most are set as high priority.
In the last 7 weeks i've had about 40 dvds.

If these figures are any help to anyone, possibly increase your wants list size?

Also I always send them back within 2 days of receiving them.

If I only saw 1 dvd a week coming through my door, I wouldn't considering it financially viable for continuting the subscription.

  • I only have about 12-15 in my list at one time, and they usually come within 2 or 3 days of sending the others back. I've been a member for around 3 months and have had just over 30 sent out so far. I would contact them directly if I were you.

Can't say I've had a problem. I'm signed up for 2 per month and I always get that.

Usually when I send the disc back on (say) Tuesday, there will be another one here by Friday, assuming I haven't reached my limit.
  • Add more discs to your rental list.

  • Indeed, I've got the "unlimited 3" plan, and have around 300 titles at any one time in my list. They send them out within 24hrs of getting old ones back without fail.

Postal strike was annoying, but hardly their fault.

  • I received the email about a dispatch and a week later hadn't received the film (no strikes here) so emailed and they told me that it had been returned to them, even though I hadn't received it. - Don't know how that could of happened but they sorted it for me. But finding that a lot of the DVD's I receive skip so am cancelling.
