I'm full of autumn cheer tonight
DD decided not to have a lie in but kindly left me to it so I didnt wake up until the cat walked across me at 9.30
Have been catching up with cleaning & washing & tidying again so now the bathroom is all sparkly & shiny & there are 3 bags of stuff to go to the charity shop.
Hung the washing out in the garden & realised that the leaves were starting to pile up so started raking & then DD came out to join me - in her pyjamas - & we filled a huge bag with leaves & discovered yet more mushrooms & toadstoos growing. My garden really is a magical place & the lovely log stools & table really look as if they belong there now. I do need to plant some more tall things as since my handwoven fence collapsed it's a bit open to the neighbours which I dont like.
We've decided to have a bonfire tomorrow night as part of our celebrations & gathered up lots of twigs to add to my stock of wood bits in the shed. We also filled up the bird feeder & made some hanging monkey nut feeders for the first time, curious to see how the birds reac tot othem & I'm now very conscious of making sure that everything for the birds is plenty high enough off the ground & do hope that having catapuss wont put them off.
The cheque I paid in hasnt yet appeared in my account so I'm slightly concerned by that, but paid in some of the fuel fund to pay the gas bill, which I have now done.
Anxious to use my £2 off at the co op voucher, I decided to stock up on milk, wine & other bits & pieces. Total spend was £11.13 so I have
£1.91 left out of my weekly budget. We shouldnt need milk but might well run out of bread . One day I will get my shopping just right & not have to visit a shop all week.0 -
Lula remember to check your bonfire for hedgepigs before you light it (I meant to say hedgehogs).
I wish I could be as motivated as you when it comes to cleaning and tidying - I have been such a lazy mare but now the mess is starting to get on my nerves so this weekend will be one of filling rubbish bags and slinging them in the bin downstairs, I also need to wash my sheets and do some washing up (getting some proper food out of the freezer is also the plan for this weekend).
The new 0845 number is being shifted to point at my landline (which never rings) - I thought at first that having this number was a good idea but I have since changed my mind - I dont want to back out because I am waiting for a music industry contact but my little plan is to take the number and then say its of no benefit to me and get rid:D
Nipped out tonight for a chippy treat (£1.80 - for a cone portion of chips and a cheese n onion fry/crocquette) - it was hell walking to the chippy as there was about 40 yoofs hanging around the bus stop and by the jobcentre, although it was 7pm they were as drunk as skunks and had mouths on them if you know what I mean..I felt quite vulnerable and scared:eek::mad:
I am expecting my electricity bill soon - I must remember to claim some of it against the business because my electricity usage has gone up (computer on all day, heating on sometimes, lights on a lot). I really must find a man to change 3 lightbulbs in my office as I am having to use my daylight lamp a lot and more so when I have washing hanging on the line:rolleyes:
Good luck with the charity shop - remember tabletop sales might be a good way of getting rid of some too rather than bunging it on ebay.0 -
*Lula reels at the thought of Horace feeling vulnerable & scared*
There was lovely bench outside our local chippy where the old peeps used to sit & chat during the day ... at night it became a magnet for local teens, beer cans, fag ends & chewing gum... the local council removed it 6 weeks after it was installed !0 -

Morning all,
just had to bounce in & report that work cheque has now hit my account so I can now make a large ish payment to 0% card :j
Thing is though I dont wannacant remember the last time I had such a healthy looking balance
Must stop eating cakes too, no point me stopping making hobnobs if DD is then going to start making such delicious cakes
Going to hang washing out now ...0 -
Congrats on the large cheque and healthy bank balance - I cannot wait for the day when I have a large amount sitting in my business account and in my personal one too.
Well, the sheets should have stopped spinning by now so I shall go and hang them on the line whilst the sun is out and they have a chance to dry. I had a long lie in this morning and didnt shift myself til 10.10am:eek: Best crack on as I have a lot to do - I have set a target to try and tidy up as much as possible and I might try cleaning the windows now I have some windowcleaner spray to test from tatco:D0 -
Hello all,
here we are at the end of October & I am completely unprepared.
Sadly the cheque is not that great Horaceit's just that having been paid in cash for the last few years, my bank account has tended to run at about £10 in credit so having anything above that is fab.
Sadly, I am desperately keen to just use it to pay more off the debt. At the back of my mind is the sneaky voice that says " that money could be to yours to spend if you hadnt been such a an idiot & racked up those CCs , go on, have fun & go shopping, you know you want to".
Well, yes I do want to, but the more I shop now, the longer it will take me to clear the debt so it's best that I just pay it straight out again so that I dont even miss it. Although I am excited about the potential new job starting in January, I'm not counting on it & am just glad that what I earn between now & then is almost enough to clear CC3 before the interest kicks in. Anything more than that is a bonus
I am struggling with which card to pay first & some great & very sensible advice is to keep paying off the highest balance & interest rate CC first ... but I just want to clear CC3. I never meant to have 3 CCs & always planned to clear it so think I will have to go with my instincts on this one.
Feel free to say " I told you so " if it all goes very wrong
We've had our bonfire & avoided any trick or treaters at the same time which is not necessarily a good thing as it meant that DD & I OD'd on sweeties & sugar & I felt most peculiar for a while - all jangly, trembly & just odd- a couple of glasses of wine & bags of crisps have helped though
My total spend for October is pretty spooky : £496.38
£252 on groceries, household & wine, £75.85 on fuel, £ 27.58 on cat stuff, £80 at Chessington. £14.95 on my fab boots from ebay, & another £46 on miscellanea. None of this is included in my weekly funds .
Today the spending was £ 5 on 'wet' cat food. Special offer & I think he was getting fed up with the dry stuff. It was certainly boring me & I dont even have to eat it. Imagine if every day of your life you knew it was bunnies for breakfast & tuna for tea.
After that we went for walk to one of my favourite places & I now dont feel so guilty about the apparent be lashings of rain tomorrow so a perfect excuse not to leave the home & get the first NSD of the month0 -

It's not yours to spend alas. When your debts are gone then it will be YOURS ALL YOURS!! (except for council tax, road tax etc...)

Be careful of feeding your cat dry cat food. Cats are obligate carnivores, they need some nutrients not part of plant material - the most famous being taurine. They also have problems (in terms of metabolising sugars) in eating plant material (which dried cat food is made from).
This is understandable, carbohydrate is not a major part of a mouse or other small animals which cats have evolved to eat.
The consequence of this is that they end up with a similar sort of sugar rush as you experienced earlier this evening - but *every* day.
Eventually they (as you would if you had a sugar-rush diet) develop diabetes from this sugar (and insulin) overload. Cat diabetes is rather an epidemic alas."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
