Sounds like you've had a crappy day..what idiots about your laptop.0

That's carp Lula, but don't let the barstewards get you down X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Oh Lula! What a load of .... bad stuff. Very sh*tty. It makes you wonder, doesn't it, well it makes me wonder, about bad days when you yourself are feeling really positive - is it a challenge? A signal you shouldn't be doing what you're doing? What is it? Just a coincidence the old fashioned way?
I'm sure you'll get up again from where you are - like you say, you can sort out the debt at the end of the month, and start from there - take care of yourself after this setback, so you can go forward in the way you plan to.
xxx2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi guys & thanks again for the support :A.
After today's debacle ( will get to that in a minute) I had every intention of posting that I was having a meltdown & was about to go awol for a bit & then stomp off & sulk under a tree or like.
The ever-winning combination of a delicious glass of rose & some lovely posts have made me see the funny side of my latest almighty catastrophe ...
Work job is insanely busy & frustrating at the moment, home job is just very time consuming ( another 10pm finish) & the only good thing is that DD loves spending time with the lovely lady who childminds her; which means that I go to work with peace of mind knowing she is safe, well cared for & happyrather than being racked with guilt that she's enduring sports camp as she knows I have to work
.
Taking a break from home-job to eat supper I decided to make a payment to Virgin CC ... only I wasnt concentrating fully & ended up hitting the wrong customer button to make payment to & next thing I know I've just sent a £150 payment to Barclaycard . The very same Barclaycard that I've requested to transfer the outstanding balance from, to my Virgin CC . I cannot believe what I have just done. I ring the bank to see if they can stop it, but they inform me that it's been sent by 'faster payment' so will hit Barclaycard within 2 hours
I want to cry but valiantly battle on with another plan - this time to call Virgin to ask if they can reduce the amount of the balance transfer form £700 to £550. Lovely Virgin man doesnt agree that I am indeed an idiot & reassures me that if the worst scenario happens then Barclaycard will refund the extra £150 to my current account:j but then says there's no sign of a £700 balance transfer from Barclaycard going through  but he can indeed authorise & complete a balance transfer for £550 for me. I ask about the £740 failed Dixons transaction & he doesnt think they have taken the money, but assures me that if they have, then they will refund it withing 5 days & as I'm on a 0% deal anyway, it wont incur any charges.
I'm very grateful & on the verge of professing undying love, but having established that I am completely bonkers & should never really have been given a CC in the first place, lovely Virgin man wishes me a pleasant evening & heads off to sort out the next scatty & unstable woman with no control whatsoever over her finances :rotfl:.
I impatiently check my Virgin CC online & immediately wish I hadnt. My account is showing that not only is the original £700 Barclaycard balance transfer 'in progress' but that the Dixons £740 is also 'pending' :eek:_pale_ & let us not forget that the £550 Barclaycard balance transfer lovely Virgin man completed hasnt shown up yet either.
The end result could be that I end up within a sliver of an inch of my shiny new limit & all because I'm impatient, wasnt concentrating properly & was actually trying to do the right thing :rotfl:.
The worst thing about all this is, I think it's less than 6 months since I last did something similar & equally stupid with my CC payments, but then I was definitely drunkish & this time I was completely sober.
Karma - our thinking re obstacles in our way being perhaps a caution that now is not the right time to proceed with an action is very similar & I have decided to park looking at buying a new laptop until the weekend. It clearly isnt meant to happen right now so I'm not going to force the event.
Too tired to continue now & defintiely need to get myself in bed before midnight.
I will return with more news soon ...
bye for now

Yes, I'm ok thanks lovely, hope life treating you nicely ?
Having a day off work-job today was much needed & knowing that I only have to go in tomorrow before having another 3 days off is wonderful too. I might just catch up on some much needed chores
I had to collect a parcel from the sorting office this morning & we then headed off to buy some warm woolly clothes for DD. We found a really lovely long cardi for her but she refused the warm hoodie with a fleecy lining on the grounds that it was a 'bad' colour ie sort of dusky pinky mauve colour - I just want her to be warm .
We also found her a pair of ankle boots reduced to £5& a fab little devil costume for a Halloween party. I felt a bit left out & still annoyed that she refused the warm top so consoled myself with a couple of new matching undies sets :shhh:. The total spend was £58.
While out I received a text from Virgin asking if I had recently requested a balance transfer. I only had the option of replying yes or no which was rather frustrating as I wanted to ask " are you referring to the £700 one or the £550 one?" . I ended up just replying yes & I now hope to see some sort of movement on either Barclaycard or Virgin account soon ... not knowing what's occurring is excruciating.
Not much home-job work today but have still earned enough to cover the funds, & hopefully a bit left over so I can take DD to Chessington for Halloween Half term treat.
Off to bed now & not had any wine either
bye for now
xx0 -
Well done on no wine.
hope the transfers manage to sort themselves out
yay to day off0 -
Woo hoo :j
That's work over until mondaywell the paid variety anyway, there's at least a weeks worth of chores to be done here.
DD had a great day out building dens in the forest while I hung out with the guys, got all my work done & cautiously asked if I could expect to see my salary in my bank account tomorrow ? Little Gnome replied that they should be, but that she was off & not contactable anyway, so if they weren't then it's just tough luck .
It wont matter if they arent in as I dont have any payments going out until monday, but I bet Gropey is already bracing himself for my appearance. The guys in the workshop said they wont bother checking their accounts if they see me steaming through the door in the morning :rotfl:.
I've been chatting to the lovely peeps at Virgin CC who confirm that the £550 Barlcycard transfer is on it's way & although the Dixons transfer is still showing on my account, they havent actually requested payment so it should disappear by monday. It makes the balance look a lot scarier than it really is so I'm very excited about making the first payment on my one & only credit card.
The minute the Barclaycard balance shows £000.00 I will be writing to close the account
In the back of my mind is a vague notion of reapplying for a Co Op cashback CC when all debt is cleared so that I can use it for everyday purchases & then clear it every month ... dont worry, it's just an idea for the future - I do recognise that this is a step I can take only when fully rehabilitated into living within my means
I've paid the gas bill which was only £72, so I still have £78 left in the fund & will be topping it up again on monday.
With home-job wages I've topped up all the cash funds :
Presents = £ 70
PGL Trip = £ 30
DDs clubs = £ 30
I have to sort out a new budget & as ever, it's the groceries that I struggle with. I still cant work out whether to withdraw cash at the beginning of the month or each week :undecided. I just know that using my debit card is a no no.
I'm disappointed at just how far off the wagon I've fallen recently & it's going to be tough to get a workable budget sorted. There's always some extraordinary non-budgetary event getting in the way of & the next thing on my horizon is the mid winter festival aka christmas ...
Aaaaaaggggghhhhhh0 -
Oh Lula! There's been a lot, hasn't there. I have a monthly amount for a supermarket shop, which I pay by cc and is paid off in full, and weekly food is taken out of weekly money.....
I hope your salary is in there tomorrow!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
