Morning all,
having woken up in something close to agony at about 5.30 I crawled to the kitchen, downed the nurofen I forgot to take at bedtime & then went back to sleep for a couple of hours. I then had to perform the humiliating procedure of getting out of bed ( rather like a ladybird or beetle trying to right itself when on its back) under the disdainful eye of Cat, who merely waited until I was actually on my feet & then attempted to trip me up by winding himself around my feet. We've had him for a year now & he is so glossy & healthy looking now its very rewarding.
As there are deliveries due today& my no-makeup-for-3-days face is even scaring me  I hauled myself into some clothes & even managed to hobble slowly to the end of the road with DD.
There's a mountain of laundry to be done so I'm just hoping that when the machine has done it's bit, I can get the basket to the garden. I probably shouldnt have started with the towels.
I've ordered tickets to take DD & 2 friends to the cinema next friday & have already had a text telling me when to expect one of my deliveries :j.
The carpets/rugs are nasty as they havent been hoovered since last weekendso I'm going to attempt to do them & then if still feeling a bit of mobility I'll change the bed linen.
3 days is my absolute limit of feeling miserable or being incapacitated. I am determined not to waste the weekend as well ... and there will be furniture to be built too _pale_. Oh dear, that's just reminded me that I have a bid on a sweet little corner cabinet just crying out for a bit of shabby chic-ification.
Back later to confess my spends ...0 -
Do you not think you should see a Dr about the back as it sounds really bad?
You are trying to o a lot as well with it...please be careful xxx0 -

Thank for your concern Taxi :A
It is an old sports injury which flares up every so often. It has been checked by a doc in the past & was declared to be muscular rather than anything bone ish ( cant think what the word is) & I was told the best remedy is to just lie flat until it gets better.
It's only ever got bad enough to have to do that 4 times & interestingly usually occurs when I'm 'on' the weather is filthy & I've been very tense. I really shouldnt have gone in to work on tuesday - & definitely shouldnt have worn heels - silly cowbut it honestly is feeling a lot better today & I managed to hoover the living room & my room :j which just makes me feel better as I cant bear the place looking scummy.
Delivery man arrived bearing all my parcels - including DDs furniture & I asked if he would please carry them upstairs for me. He wasnt keen but I gushed about how grateful I was so he relented - which is a relief, or she would have been going outside to her hang her clothes up :rotfl:.
All new clothes lovely & I am so out of the Clothes Challenge I shoud be ashamed of myself... but I'm not - I'm just delighted to have got 6 new tops for £14.40
back later

ok then as long as you know your limits.
tops were a bargain..well done0 -
Whoops, I miscalculated the cost of the new tops, although still fairly bargainous, the total cost was in fact £ 28
.
Have just confessed to clothes challengers, will nowhave to go back & confess that as well as being a bit spendy, I also cant add up. No surprise that I got into debt then really :rotfl:
My sis has offered to come over to doe some cooking & cleaning for me over the weekend :A... if it wasnt for the karma I would be so tempted to make out I'm still suffering badly, her cleaning is rubbish, but she makes really healthy food taste great.
I'm determined to get the rest of the laundry done & attempt to cut the grass while its warm & sunny. The mower is very light & has a grass box so no raking required & it's a great excuse to wear my wellies
Just thinking back to Karmas post about wine & books; I always read in the bath, but cant actually remember the last time I had alcohol
Had a lovely long hot bath earlier & now off to bed with some nurofen & a book. Hopefully will wake up & not have to do upside down ladybird impersonation to get out of bed.
night night

Hope you see improvement in the morning0

Hello again,
Having malingered about for 3 days I was determined to make up for lost time over the weekend & I think I succeeded.
Saturday morning I decided to have an easy start so got Dd to bring me acoffe in bed & then the little bedside chest for her room, so that I could build it in comfort. Her challenge was to sort out her room before I had built it. I won that round as it was very easy & her room is very messy.
I was then inspired to try to build the chest as there was o sign of the sunshine we were promised. Laundry in the machine, a couple of nurofen to get me moving & I managed to build the chest :j. Decided to leave the wardrobe until completely fit & strength recovered.
Sis rang to say that she was coming to visit which prompted a quick tidy up - if anyone can tell me how to hide/disguise a 6ft long bright pink stuffed toy shark please tell :rotfl:
Realised that we neede to buy essentials like, bread, milk & fruit so decide to attempt driving the car. Had to pull the seat forward & straighten it a bit but was otherwise fine - loving those cuddly supportive sports seats.
Whizzed round Waitrose about 5pm & was horrified to discover that everyone else in the world had decided to go shopping then toobut managed to get everything on my list & also a whole lot of stuff on the imaginary one too inolving things like Cath Kidston cherry mugs, chocolate mints 'for the car' & a pizza.
DD suddenly decides that she is now too old for almost everything in her oom other than the furniture & her clothes, books & electronic stuff & as part of her new tidy persona, she cant possible have it all cluttering up her room so starts to haul it all into the living room .
Having almost cleared the corner which incorporates the photo albums, 2 sewing machines & the spare rug ... I now have to wade through a box of vintage lego, a wooden dolls house complete with approximately 10 different furniture sets, an ensuite shed, farm with every variety of animal you could wish to see, a stable, an ark & also a large bag of rubbery animals from all 5 continents which used to ambush me every time I had bath & I longed to see the back of, & a huge bag of soft toys.
My baby has just decided that her childhood is over & I'm left reeling with the knowledge that never again will I have to curse silently when stepping on a zebra, find that my shampoo has mysteriously been used up by Mr. Tyrannosarus Rex  , discover fossilized bananas from last weeks packed lunches in the horses drinking trough  or that her school tie has been used to enclose the lions & elephants or moan that the dolls house roof is not where dirty socks should end up.
She no longer needs me to read The Proud & Fearless Lion to her every night, I dont need to talk in Doctor Seuss style rhymes anymore & I'll probably never again be asked when the next white wash will be; because the toy dalmations have been eating chocolate biscuits again & need a wash :rotfl:.
Saying good bye to Polly Pocket, Barbie & the ridiculous lolly pop shaped Bratz with their inflate-to-at-least-300 psi lips was easy. I was always very scornful of their lack of purpose & their garish plastic accessories that f***ed up at least 2 of my cheap & cheerful hoovering machines . I knew they were really only there because other girls at school had them & that DD would always much prefer to play with her animals.
I was never asked to buy any dolls for her & we both agreed that Tiny Tears should have been left to drown in her own wee as she was just so plain, with her bowl haircut & absolutely no redeeming features at all. ( I personally think that when she first came in to existence back in 1850 or whenever, someone made a mistake on the order form & even now they ares till trying to sell off the originals. there was an advert for one on tv the other day & the poor thing hasnt changed at all.
I'm digressing now, so will end that lament for lost childhood here & continue with news in the next post ...0 -
Back to business :
My cunning plan of turning a knackered old wardrobe into a green house is a brilliant success :j ( bu**er modesty, I'm a resourceful recycling genius) DD helped me to carry the bits to the garden & we then screwed the 2 separate shelf compartments to the main frame & we now have a green house with 8 slatted wood shelves & a space in the middle for hanging things like onions, [STRIKE]Tiny Tears[/STRIKE], gloves, tools etc. For now I've covered it with some sheets of plastic to keep it dry until we get around to painting it a colour that blends in with the garden a bit better than fresh cut pine.
Next stage is to actually fit the perspex sheets that my Dad has & somehow attach a door. I have so much wood, I could probably make one. We then set about hauling 6 of the freebie paving slabs into place so that it has a solid base to stand on which should help delay the rot for some time. I am chuffed to bits with it & cant wait to start using it for actually growing things.
We then had to dash off to nearby ebayer to collect the corner cabinet & the gorgeous little mirror on a stand with a drawer underneath it & they both turned out to be even better than I had hoped. Neither item had been varnished which means all that is needed is a quick rub down & then some paint & hey presto I'll have a lovely cabinet to stand the tv on & hide all my stuff like cds, hairdryer etc in & fab little handmade mirror to go on the chest ( to replace the one I bought recently & that DD has just nicked to go in her room) All that joy for just £33 :j( I have the paint already)
At the back of the garage I rediscovered the wooden frames I got from work which are now going to form the basis of my own little veg patch. I still really really want the containers I saw n Amazon, but I am getting a buzz from not having any start up costs so farso will resist as long as possible. The only downside of not going to the allotment anymore is not having all that lovely free manure. Need to find a friend with a horse
I spent nearly 2 hours  getting the ironing done as I'd washed everything that could be washed, including all under blankets on the beds, fleeces, & throws & all the clothes that are going in to the charity bag on wednesday.
Just to round off the weekend nicely, I've also paid another £120 to the virgin CC which brings the total to sub £3,000 ( only 4 months over schedule) & a quite respectable £2960.
Grumpy sent me a text to ask that was going in tomorrow? & he hoped I wouldnt be too lonely as both he & Gropey would be out & that Goblin was on holiday for the week :j.
I replied that it sounded like the perfect start to the week & that I would drag myself in just to revel in the peace :rotfl:
DDs lunch is made, the airing cupboard has been emptied & our wardrobes filled, homework has been completed & my accounts are up to date.
Time for bed
xx
